Perhaps if you took proper care of it , it would have faired much better and lasted many more years before it fell apart.

Just sayin', leather needs to be nourished and cared for to keep it pliable and soft.

Leather Conditioner every so often , not letting it get wet and drying out , not leaving it in a place of direct heat or Sun, and keeping it clean.

but at the same time you do have manufacturers defects that appear regardless of care, and in that case the manufacturer should be held responsible.

which is why they shouldn't have to refund 100% of the purchase

- 1.5 years of use
- treat it like crap

and then it falls apart?

I'd send him a check for $50 and tell him to take it to a local leather shop, HANDMF.

"Yelling out of cars, turning your speakers out the window to blast your music onto the street, setting off M-80 firecrackers, firing automatic weapons into the airâ€"these are all well and good. But none of them create a merry atmosphere of insouciance and bonhomie quite like a revving motorcycle.

That's GREAT customer service if they took care of it completely.  [thumbsup]

I'm with 'tiz. 1.5 years is a lot of use. The manufacturer has no idea what the jacket has been through or how it has been treated. A pro-rated value would be reasonable to me.

1.5 years? Enough to buy a new jacket? I'd be doing back flips!  [thumbsup]
