warm weather/rain leather glove question

There may be something about this question hidden in this section but hey, I'm lazy and haven't looked. I have ridden for 46+ years and have never found the zen like answer to my question of what do you guys and gals wear for gloves when it's raining in warm spring like weather? I have insulated/waterproof type winter gloves. And thankfully I haven't had to use them much in cold/wet riding... knock on wood! ;D But just curious what the DMF masses use for warm weather/wet riding conditions.

Over the years I have just taken a second pair of leather riding gloves so I would have a back up pair if the ones I was wearing got soaked. Which usually leads to leather dye bleed and your hands are stained for days! [bang] I really don't know if I have ever seen a pair of road race quality protective gloves that are not insulated (don't need that in spring and summer) and are somewhat Gore-Tex waterproof. Does this animal exist? If not, what do y'all do? Just curious.
I plan to list the Federal Gov't. as a dependent on my next 1040 tax filing!

I have flying honey badgers and I'm not afraid to use them!

The fact that flame throwers exist is proof that someone somewhere said "I'd sure like to set those people over there on fire but I'm just not close enough to get the job done."

CONFIDENCE: the feeling you have right before you understand the situation.

i know rev'it has these zenith h20 gloves... leather, carbon knuckle, but not really a full race glove, more like a touring glove but it does have a full gauntlet just not as many hard parts.  no liner though.

i think they might be bringing out a new version soon though... revzilla doesnt carry them anymore and there were a crapload of them at the rev'it sample sale so they were prob trying to get rid of inventory.

Are you looking for a waterproof racing Glove ?

If so , you may be able to treat a pair of regular race Gloves with some type of water repellent agent.

Off the top of my head I can't think what that would be at the moment.

I'll do some research and get back to you .

I have the Fahrenheit H2o, like the Zeniths, but with a phase change liner.   Though they keep your hands tolerably warm down into the high 30s they won't overheat your hands during spring temperatures.

Nikwax is what is used on leather Hiking and Backpacking boots to waterproof them.

You could try treating a pair of Race gloves wirh Nikwax .

Thanks. I'll look into that. Maybe the local REI or Whole Earth Provision might carry that... or something like it. Problem is I wear Joe Rocket GPX 2.0 gauntlet style leather gloves and they are perforated. I'd have to find another non-perf protective leather glove to treat and I would imagine most quality hard armor protective riding gloves are perforated.

Oh well, thanks for the posts. Maybe this animal doesn't exist after all. I can always fall back on my spare gloves in case of rain. [moto]

i think nikwax will work only to a point... for light rain or a short shower, it'll be ok, but anything more than that is going to have leaks coming in from the seams... and like you mentioned, most race style gloves have some form of perf.  you'll need some kind of membrane for true waterproofing.

fastwin,

I think you would need to find a Race Glove made out of Goretex and I just haven't be able to find one with the hard armor like most better Race armored long gauntlet Gloves.

fastwin,

I can't believe I forgot the vary Gloves that I have been wearing as recently as yesterday.

The Helimot H20, are non perfed , Roo skin Palms , w. very thick padding on the main Knuckles and gel padding throughout the other areas of where you would expect extra protection.

Main chassis of the Glove is thick Cowhide, 2 closure straps.

My hands feel very safe in these Racing , long gauntlet Gloves even though no hard Armor is to be found.

You could Nikwax these and probably work fine for what you have in mind. helimot.com
