Keep an eye out for those damn deer in the hill country. Also helps if you wear the proper gear.

The deer knew the only guy without the right gear.  He was stalking that rider.  That sucks.

I hope Page gets better quickly... I watched the video several times. Why do you think the bike just turned on it's side so quickly? It looks like for 1 second its up and the next it's on it's side. How can I avoid this happenning to me? Do you think he did something wrong in his approach?

It looks to me like he grabbed to much front brake too quickly and locked it up. Once the front locks, you're on your side VERY quickly.

Its a difficult reaction to control: panic braking. But if the front locks, you didn't let weight settle on to it enough before asking that much stopping force of the tire. He didn't do a stoppie, which is quite possible if you roll on brakes. He locked the front which is what happens when you grab brakes.

If you want to try and keep this from happening to you, practice parking lot stops. Thats about all you can do. And realize how much more brkaing is there if you apply gradually. Think "squeeze" rather than "grab"

Sucks terribly to be that guy. I was that guy this past weekend (road rash) and I was that guy last year (locked front in panic). Everyone gets to be that guy.

Yep happened to me on my old dual sport, panicked and it was on it's side before I knew.  Hope he's ok.
