Just bought a 2007 Monster S2R1000 with 3,400 miles. I feel like I got a pretty good deal on it, only paying $5600.  So far it's been a fun bike, and I can't wait to ride it more.

Nice.

Do you know the maintenance history of the bike? Are you familiar with some of the Duc quirks?

Specifically, the cam belts are a 12k mile or 2 years of age from being put into service. So a lot of low mile bikes like yours have never had the belts replaced. So - you should look into that sooner. Be a real shame to lose a belt and mangle up one of your cylinders

This is what happens if you do

Luckily, if you're mechanically inclined it's a pretty easy job.
-Throttle's on the right, so are the brakes.  Good luck.

I have been reading around on the forum -- that's something I want to do/get done. The oil hasn't been changed in a while, and I've got some on the way. Where can I find the belts? I'll have to do it myself; there's no dealer/shop in Little Rock for Ducati's.

Destroying a cylinder is the last thing I want to do.

Many of the sponsors stock parts. I got mine from California Cycleworks. Chris who runs California Cycleworks has done a set of videos one includes a belt change.
