Tail chop question...re Motodynamic LED light

I have a 2001 M900S ie that I am wanting to do a tailchop on. My plan is to buy the monstertailchop kit and the sequential LED light from motodynamic:

94-07 Ducati Monster Sequential LED Tail Lights with Smoked Lens

My question is:  has anyone used the motodynamic light?  Any opinions either good or bad?  Also, will the motodynamic light work with the monstertailchop kit (ie...will it fit directly into the holes that the original light came out of)?  How difficult is the wiring when switching out to the new LED light?

Thanks all.

I don't have direct experience with that tail chop, but anything designed to use the stock light will work for the Motodynamic. I have that tail light and let me tell you I love it. Looks perfect, the turns actually indicate which way you're going even though they're integrated (I had the CA unit as well and I got a lot of "I know you're turning SOMEWHERE, but no clue which direction) and the flashing brake light is nice piece of mind.

You will have a fair amount of excess wire, which is a good thing. It gives you plenty of room to hide the hard parts, the control unit zipties easily to the frame by the passenger grab rail. I"m not going to be near my bike until Saturday but I'll try and snap a few photos of my install.

Thanks for the info. Please do post some pics of your install if you get a chance.

I also have the same unit with the integrated license plate light.  It works great and is very bright (something else I appreciate since my bike is painted "Road Camoflauge").  I can also take pics of my tail chop for you and post up what it looks like.  The install is very straightforward.

I'm in the midst of installing this same unit... pics of instal on any other bikes would be much appreciated.

Also, I have an oddball POS homemade bracket from the previous owner... if anyone has a good bracket schematic that I can view, I'm looking forward to building something cleaner.

Thanks in advance!

i ahve the motodynamic tail light and i ended up breaking the 2 prongs that mount it. i have Not been able to find a way to reattatch it without it falling off again. its just a bolt thats been molded into the plate. Ive tried plastic welding, but it just isnt the same. you cant use glue since glue doesnt reach well too torque.

other then that 1 complaint, the thing is awesome.

Guy's articulate but not a craftsman. Sorry but the pipecutter skrews the paint. And that sheetmetal thing he made sucks. Kludge.

I don't think your average elderly individual or soccer mom or functioning retard will quite understand which way you're turning with this taillight. That's a large cross section of society I just described. It will put the zap on their heads for sure. It's pretty good for an integrated though; there was some other one I can't remember what the name was that was super expensive but super impressive. Don't know if it's made anymore. It was awesome though. Was programmable or something, and bright as hell.

Here's pics of my tail.  I mean, on the bike.  The bike's tail.

Tail light itself (molded from the factory molds so fitment is great):

Here's what I did for the control box/wiring:

I too love the MotoDynamics light.
I did a complete tail chop and relocated my license
Under the front of seat and attached 2 separate LED
Turn signals under the seat just behind the hoop.
I am very pleased with look.
