Back when I first met my wife I worked 2nd shift at my job and got home around midnight. She'd be there waiting for me and we'd go up into the canyons two up for a night-time tour. They were some of the best rides of my life and I'll always remember winding through the twistys with not another soul for miles. Of course it was also very special because we were together.

On one ride up near evergreen we had a full moon and could see quite well, we came out of a thick forested area into a valley with a large meadow and there were about 40 elk in the process of crossing the road. As soon as I saw them I turned off the lights and slowed to a walk. We rolled up into the middle of the heard and stopped. I shut off the engine and we both sat there in silence while the elk walked all around us in the moonlight! We waited until the last one had passed before we started the bike up and moved on. It was an absolutly incredible and eerie experience.

Riding at night can be amazing in the right context, but personally I don't see myself doing a kamikaze group ride in the hills at night...
sorry.

We will not be doin a KAMIKAZE ride at night.  ( I know thats hard to believe coming from me)

This ride is for those who want to have a great dinner and ride. More of a moderate pace with some stops.  I will let you know soon.
I think it would be cool for your wife to ride and for my wife to ride her bike as well. Just like the ride to Palmer on Fathers day.

I can get down with that plan.  :D

When I get my bike back, I'm in.

And do watch out for critters. I knew a guy who hit an elk one night. Did the full panic stop, and got it slowed to about 5mph and just bumped into him. The bike bounced back and fell over. The elk snorted and walked off. My friend said that elk smell REALLY bad that close.  [laugh]
