Bike Noob from Newcastle

Howdy all, I'm from up in Newcastle and have booked in the pre L's course for Feb 4th and 5th and will be looking at buying a bike.

Jeeze Schoona, your expectation is pretty high, maybe we could point you where you can get some tips, tricks and safe riding as for cool people, well I'm sure we have one around here somewhere, anyway welcome, enjoy the ride.

My advice for you if you are going to ride a bike on the road is simple mate.

Imagine you are invisible and not a single person on the road can see you, because in this day and age, they probably can't because they are too busy texting, facebooking, tweeting, playing with their pud or something else they are doing other than concentrating on the road.  If you ride with the attitude that they can't see you at all, you stand a better chance.
