I've been checking and saw those gauges from Motogadget and Koso. Cool stuff and not much different in price from used Duc stuff.

I'm reconsidering the SSSA deal. I really, REALLY want laced spoke wheels and billet hubs. I'm looking at a couple options. One is this http://alpinawheelsusa.com/galleries/gallery/

I know I can get first tier dealer pricing but can do better with a group buy. The price would probably be a little under $2k delivered. Anyone out there interested??

I'm also checking into a group deal with Galfer. Anyone interested in that?

Those Alpina on a 696 tracker would be  [evil]  I saw them on a 696 at EICMA last year. I'll see if I can find the photo for you when I get home.

Not sure if you've seen the the "real" ft that Larry Pegram raced a few years ago it's bad ass and He got some decent results. I was the Santa Rosa national 2 weeks ago and a Duc won a heat race everyone was cheering. Anyway her's a link to Pegrams bike.  https://www.google.com/search?q=larry+pegram+ducati+flat+tracker&hl=en&client=firefox-a&hs=mrh&rls=org.mozilla:en-US:official&prmd=imvnso&tbm=isch&tbo=u&source=univ&sa=X&ei=Yi54UKzJL4TYigL24ID4DQ&ved=0CCQQsAQ&biw=1280&bih=688

Here's a good site for used F.T. parts.

Just for inspiration, check out these pics of the Dirt-Track Monster I built in '10.

I know it's not exactly the look you're going for, but...

Thanks Duck-Stew.

Looks very nice! Are those Alpina wheels? Are they 17s? I really like the tires, especially now that I've shopped my own. WOW! Who'd have thought it would be so difficult. These kind of tires in 18" are abundant, but finding a matched set in 17" is almost impossible. You ended up with a nice combo. We'll see how I did.....

NOW: A progress update....

The bike is completely torn down. I'm going to start fabrication on the subframe and swing arm. The subframe will be complete fabrication, the swing arm is going to be a modified GSXR 600 piece.

I'm in the process of ordering the wheels (JC is checking to make sure I can get what I want)

Tim at Imperial Sportbike made me a killer deal on a pile of stuff. For $2600 i got a complete OEM Ohlins fork/t-clamps/axle, and Ohlins rear shock from an 1100 Monster that had 1800 miles, and all three Brembo Monoblock calipers from an Aprillia RSV4R. And that includes shipping.

I'm sooooo excited!

Yep! Those are Alpina's in the 17". 3.5" front & 5.5" rear.

Among the goodies I couldn't resist for this project was this:

I haven't got the final price yet but they're pretty reasonable. I'll post photos when I get it on the forks.

On another note, I'd love some suggestions on colors. I was planning on black and yellow, along with the gold anodized parts. I was going to do the whole frame in yellow. But I'm having second thoughts. The black wheels with gold hubs, gold Ohlins, that is set, but the rest is still open. I'd kind of like to do an Italian red, green, white. But I'm not sure of the details, or how it will fit with the black and gold parts.

Anyone care to throw some pictures or suggestions out?

Thanks, Squid

What happened to this build?

I'm looking to put some flat tracker style handlebars on an m696. Guessing any 7/8" motox/dirt bike will do. Any suggestions?

Update: Easton, Renthal are the choice brands.

Found this pic of M696 with Renthal Streetfighter bars. From an old thread on another forum back in 2008. Anyone on here have the same setup? Wondering if the cross bar gets in the way of the seeing the instrument panel. Also, looks like a longer throttle cable is required.
