New Helmet - Ebay?

So, my current Arai has reached it's "use by" date, and I'm in the market for a new Corsair RX-7.

My dilemma is that the local shops don't have the color/size that I want and have offered to order it... but for accessories (sorry local shops) I've always felt, if I have to order it and wait a week or two for it to get delivered anyway, why not just do it myself, probably save a few bucks and have it delivered right to my door.

There are a couple of regular Ebay sellers that have good feedback on a lot of helmets...
Has anyone purchased a helmet from one of these Ebay powersellers?  Are the prices too good to be true?

Thanks for any feedback...

depends on the seller. i bought or should say paid for 2008 agv s-4 hemlet. what i recieved was a 2007. It has different features then the 2008. I called them an informed them of the problem they said send it back we will replace it with the correct helmet. Next day They called me saying they sent the correct one and the 2008 does not have quick release retention. Needless to say I will not  buy anything from them again reguardless of the price.

I just bought an Arai RX7 (Yellow Edwards) from Wilzgarage for $399 on ebay.  A steal!

I have bought a few helmets, only had an issue with one seller - helmetdepot.   Had a great experience with power_accessories buying an awesome RSR2 for under $200!!

Try on local if you can, find your best deal online.  If you can match the price +$25 give or take purchasing local, get it.  If not, shop away on the net.

I bought an Arai from this guy ( http://stores.ebay.com/Riders-Gear ) a few months ago. Good deal and reliable seller from my experience...

Just look at the feedback. If there are any negatives read them. I would buy from a powerseller if possible as they have to maintain above average positive qualifications.

I've bought Shark and Arai off of eBay and had no complaints.   I'm 400 miles from the nearest dealer that stocks anything above HJC so it's my first option when I want a new helmet.

I would have to disagree. Take all those feedbacks with a grain of salt. Read the negative/neutral ones. Powersellers often run on quantity, not quality. I've had a bad experience with one, great feedback percentage, but when you look at the fine details, he was getting a dozen bad reps every month.

I've bought one helmet off ebay and another one on-line. I wouldn't do it again as both times they shipped them without padding. I'm sure UPS wasn't too entirely gentle during the process. Plus I was taking a gamble on fit.

I bought my last one on ebay and saved about $75 over what other online stores were charging.  Helmet was brand new, never used, and mfg'd in 2007.

+1 on Wilz garage, He is local to me here in TX, really nice honest guy.  Give him a call and he will usually cut you a better deal than his advertised prices.

Hm...I will be visiting that site a lot in the future.  He has the helmet I'm pining over for $60 less than anywhere else I've seen.
