Now that I have put velocity stacks on my 1100 it's in dire need of fueling adjustments. I'm running super lean. It's hard on starts and I feel like romping on it past 6k I'm getting a little bit of predetonation (93 octane this tank, previously running 91) I switched to 93 this tank in preparation for it a little but am still getting predet in the higher rpms at speed.

Needless to say I need to figure out what my different options are, and how much they will cost.

It's going to need fueling adjustments all through the rev range and probably a lot at idle since the bikes are already probably super lean at idle for emissions reasons.1100 evo, No internal engine mods, Stock ECU, mini Termi, and Corse Dynamics velocity stacks.

dynojet powercommander V is probably the easiest

Ducati is the pretty girl that can't walk in heels without stumbling. I still love her.

Ok so that was a lot to take in.

Is it possible to just be able to take it to my local dealer and them tune the stock Ecu from idle to redline? Adjusting AFR all the way through as we'll as at different throttle input. If so, how much $$$

If no, How about after a rexxer Ecu flash to eliminate closed loop? Can they tune it just off the reflashed Ecu with no piggy back to make the adjustments needed for idle to the end of the old closed loop section.

If both the above are no, then I guess it's just rexxer reflash, then a power commander. If its reflashed, can a pcv make adjustments to the previous closed loop section or will I have to use that auto tune attachment?

Raux

1 - no

2 - yes with the right shop

3 - yes but you need a shop to build the PC map

nickshelby500kr

Hmm well with no piggy back my local shop says they can do a reflash (not sure which one) and a dyno tune for the tune of $500.. But I take it that's a one shot deal, no additional engine mods or another tune will be needed.

Raux

yep pretty much.

the PCV with autotune (after the o2 elimination)
allows constant changes

...and is especially useful when running pods IMO

I assume because the faster you're going, the more air traveling through the filter and into the throttle body?

Raux

I disagree with that and that's another reason i feel pods aren't so great

I think the faster you go the less effective pods are

the work great on a dyno but at speed they aren't so great

just look at can am in the 70s and how the air boxes changed the hp game

I'm inclined to agree.  The faster you go the more turbulent the incoming air is... buffeting around as it must.  If the incoming air is unstable and turbulent then to some degree pods would have to be less effective than a well designed, free breathing air box.

Its just one of the factors that makes me feel running Autotune is useful with such a setup.....  hard to map fueling for unstable/turbulent air on a static dyno.

Pods look cool  [evil] ......but I have to vote for a "well designed, free breathing air box."  :)
