i recently took my rims off to have them powdercoated...they're off my 96 900 Supersport SP, but they are not the OEM wheels, as far as i know (they were white and had marchesini badges on them).  i had just assumed they were 5.5" wide, as the manual called for, but after holding up a tape measure as shown in the pic, they would seem to be 6".  or is the measurement taken at different points?

thanks!

dayum...  time to slap on those 190s!  not really.

so, i'm guessing 170's are probably not going to work so well on a 6" rim yeah?  as it is, a 180/55 doesn't have a whole lot of "angle" on the sidewall...if that makes sense...it's closer to: |  than:  \  or  /

so I am guessing you did not write the 72.70.6.00" ;)

yes that is  6.00" rim and you would be best keeping tires at 180 or 190. If you do run a 190 you may have to shave your left side a bit or the chain might do it for you.

yeah, the chain is already somewhat close with the 180/55... i don't think i'll be trying out 190 any time soon.  thanks for the info   [thumbsup]
