From Jerez testing so far, the top end of WSBK looks like a top 10 bike in Moto GP?

While it shows the quality of the KRT riders and bikes, it  demonstrates that on track performance is where factories focus their resources. KHI's concerted effort is in WSBK and it would be great to see them back in MotoGP with that same effort and focus (and riders). I guess costs are so high that factories can only afford an "official factory" effort in MotoGP and a "supported" effort in SBK? Clearly KHI chose SBK. I think it's an argument for WSBK to be run closer again to Superstock specs and more production based in order to free up resources for Moto GP R&D.  With Ducati going 4 cylinder the rules can now be simplified.

Do you think this is where it's going under common Moto GP/WSBK ownership?.

I would be interested in seeing if the times are comparable on a completely different track.

That should be easy enough to cross reference.

Not exactly.

Daily track conditions play a huge effect at that level.

Now that Dorna owns everything...good thing for Carmello there aren't antitrust laws in Europe...we need to see more testing of both groups on track simultaneously.

Well of course they do, but you could ballpark it. Pretty sure it’s a useless statistic anyway, but apparently curious minds want to know.

Of course it's useless...they don't race together, and they don't swap bikes so the 'rider equation' doesn't come in to play.

It is interesting to see who's faster, and it does show the similarities of level.

One of the manufacturers should do a bike swap event with the 4 riders.

What would Ducati do when they discovered Chaz was faster than George? ;D

That’d be their call. I’m sure over the years there’s been riders that were faster in WSBK. Then again there’s Ben.  ;)

If they swapped bike, it would take them days to just figure out the tires.

that is why they had that survey on MOTOGP.COM about "interest in WSBK" and such..
