I hope someone can help me out. I have put new belts on for the first time and I can’t line up the marks on my pulleys. The mark on the case pulley is lined up with the mark on the case. I can line up the vertical head with the case but when I try to line up the horizontal head I am out a little. Any suggestions? What am doing wrong?
I have included some photos.
Thanks ??? ???

Take a look at the original belt covers, and see where the alignment dots are.

What you've got there is way off, from what I can see.

(You know you're missing a head nut on the horizontal, right?)

Thanks for the reminder about the nut, I did know that the nut was off. However on this 2005 M1000 the only marks on the cover are where I have the red dots. There was no marks inside the cover and these are the original covers cut down and powder coated.

Ack, my mistake.  :(
It's been a while since I've had my hands on a DS motor, and I don't have one here now.

How far off is the horizontal pulley? A dot width?

The horizontal dot is approx. 1/2 - 3/4 dot out.

No worries, you're good to go.  [thumbsup]
