Tire Trauma.

I'm posting this in the general forum, mods, feel free to move it if it's not in the right place.

I'm sure this has been gone over before, but does anybody know the cheapest/ best place to buy tires online? I've been quoted $170 up to $210 for a new front tire installed at my local places. Seems a bit high to me for a front tire.

I'm mostly looking at something like a diablo or pilot power, something sticky. If anyone knows of a decent online tire place let me know :) the sites i've found so far are not really going to save me any money, which is odd, I'd expect them to be cheaper, why should I buy online when I can get it same day at a store for the same money? Right? So there must be somewhere that sells them cheaper than the stores? I'm hoping..

And yes, I am poor.

I've bought the last couple from Motorcycle Superstore then had one of the local guys mount them for me (Thanks Pompetta).

Most of the places around here charge less if you just bring them the wheel/tire, rather than bring them the bike and make them remove it. Pretty doable with front tires.

Some places will also save you the tire disposal fee if you take the old tire with you.

Thanks everyone for the responses. I'll be sure to check those places out online. Definitely just gonna try to take in the wheel on it's own.

I was informed, yesterday, that Cycle Gear is planning a one-day sale on Saturday, Oct 22nd (I think that is the date) where they will be selling SETS of Pirelli Diablo tires for $179 with a 120 front and 180 rear. I'm tempted on buying some more of these. The last time they had this sale in May (they were $159 then) I bought four sets.

Demon that is a great deal.  Do you know if that will be just for in store or if I can get that price by ordering online?

That's great!  My Monster uses a 160 rear.  >:(

There's an obvious fix for that problem... use your tire savings to buy a bigger monster :)

If it is run like they have been in the past, it will be both. The last couple of times they've run this deal, they actually allowed people to pre-purchase them, but you could not pick them up at the store or they would not be shipped out until the day of the sale. The last time, I pre-purchased the four sets a week in advance and then went and picked them up on the day of the sale. IIRC, if you order them online, they will charge you $10 per tire for shipping.

If this sale is like the others that they've had in the past, they will probably offer these combinations and prices...

120/60-17 front with 160/60-17 - $179.99
120/70-17 front with a 180/55-17 rear - $179.99
120/70-17 front with a 190/50-17 rear - $189.99

This is speculation since I was only told of the 120/180 combo at $179.99

Um, there is no Saturday 22nd in October.

Which is why I had the words "I think that is the date" in parentheses as an attempt to let you know that I did not have a calendar in front of me, so I was not exactly sure of the date.....How would October 25th sound to you, then?   [roll]

Thanks again Demon,

One more question.  Do you know which Diablos will be on sale?
