I think it takes about 5 seconds...but it's been a while since I've changed a rear brake pad.  That said I've had two shops warn me that mine's nearly gone.  Like TCK said, no one uses the rear brake.

Ok, Ok...now I'm not scared anymore.   [laugh]

Back to Charlie's thread.  It's getting plenty of bumpage, but not ride-related.  Sorry Charlie!

I use it when coming down the hill from Mt. Tam into Mill Valley with the engine off and no hands.

Okay okay... lets rephrase, "No one NEEDS to use the rear brakes"

Labbedds

I don't know about everyone else but with all the hills I deal with in sf the rear brake really comes in handy.

Yeah, I'm too short to do uphill starts without a rear brake.

Especially with tourists and or retards going up fillmore, on my way to school sometimes I just wait at the stop sign and wait for the car to get to the very top before I go.  Burnin up meh clutch.

I can ride my bike with no handlebars.
