Now that I/we are back from our recent travels I've spent the last few days in a daze. Why? Well, I've been looking at where to ride this upcoming weekend and though it'll be fun, it sadly won't compare to the roads that I fell in love with much further south.

So, sometime VERY SOON, like within the next month I'm planning on taking a really short and fast trip to WV & VA. I'm thinking it'll be 4 days total (Fri to Mon) with the first and last days dedicated to the 500 miles slab ride to and from. That'll leave 2 days of riding twistys. Yes, the slab will suck, yes by day 3 I'll be dead tired but in the end I think it'll be worth it.

I know Cru is interested in this trip but he isn't willing to do the slab aside from the fact that wifey will be none too happy about it.

Is there anybody else into this? I'll happily go alone but some company would nice too. Anyone?

I may be able to go. Sad thing is, the wifey has been so busy at work that she probably won't be able to take a day off (let alone more than 1), so it may still be possible. Now, I just need to get the trailer hitch installed & we'll be all set.   [moto]

Why not trailer the bikes down to the good section. Save the wear and tear on the bikes, tires, and yourself from all that slab riding. If yo do that you will have extra gear, parts, clothes,  easily available.

only thing would be getting stuck in GW traffic on the way home and not being able to lane split.

That would be the ideal plan but since I'm the one with the... ahem... loosest leash, I wouldn't want to get anyone into any more trouble than they already are by assuming that they can time off of work, time away from home, and spend more $$$ on yet another trip. That's why I'm saying that I'm willing to go solo.
If Cru or anyone else can make it, GREAT! If Cru can make it with his car AND trailer... even better. The fact that I'm willing to do 2 500+ mile days on the slab pretty much shows how desperate I am  [laugh]

I was at work still when I wrote that.  Don't worry - I've got the weekend free - lots of stuff will get done!
