I am saddened that Ducati has not produced a bike IMHO that is as sexy and as sensualas my '07 S4Rss.

The fact that you can't get a Monster w, more than 95 HP and a 2V engine seems very surprising .  It's like Ducati is moving backwards.

Why drop the 4/v engine and the higher HP output ?

It seems like a big jump from 95 HP to a 1098 w, 160 HP.

I'm sorry Ducati, I guess I made the right decision when I bought 2  '07 S4Rss. Still have only 7 miles on the one !    Dolph

Well I'm glad I have my S2R.  Could be worse I guess.  The thing will get modded to the point it looks good by plenty of people.  I bet the first company to make tank panels without the vents in them will make a pretty penny.

Things I don't like that can be changed:
Exhaust
Rear sets
Headlight
Seat
Then all the regulars, mirrors, levers etc.

The one thing I can't get by and the reason I didn't get a 696 is the curved path the front header takes.  I hate the line it makes, visually.  Not a big deal to most, but next to the first generation Monsters it was a deal breaker for me.

Things I like:
SSS
Wheels
Dry Clutch (I'm assuming it has one)

With all that being said I can't wait to see one in person.

how does a headlight bar acquire a sexual orientation?  born with it?  experimented a little when on a smaller bike?

Oddly, that's one of only a few things I really like about the new design!   :o

I think it's a nice, subtle evolution/modernization of the Monster, but I'll keep my S4R.

Well it depends who frequents said bar.
If the state had not cut funding for the mental institutions, this project could never have happened.

An improvement over the 696, but maybe not enough for some.  How can one tell if this is a dry clutch by looking at pix only?  Or is there other info out there?

The cover. Dry clutches just have a small cover which only covers the clutch itself...you can see it in the photos. Wet clutches don't have a separate clutch cover, as it is all part of the engine case.

I don't like the trellis frame anymore.  It looks swolen -- the tubes are too thick -- and then it ends abruptly, making the contrasting color seem out of place.  It's just not pleasing to the eye.

I wonder if you can bolt an 848 or 1098 on to that puppy and give it some more juice.   ;D

No -- the frame isn't wide enough to fit a 4v motor.
You probably won't see a 4v in this monter style any time soon.
