Hey everyone,

I'm not from here, so I don't normally post here. I'm Chris, the owner/operator of California Cycleworks and everyday general Ducati addict.

We had someone manage to sneak off with a set of Arrow high mount carbon slip-ons ... if someone in your corner of the desert wanted to help us get those back, there's some $$ or some Arrow high mount carbon slip-ons in it for you. Basically, at this point, I'm pretty sure they're going to be a loss, but it'd be nice if we got `em back from the thief just out of principle.

We shipped to this name/address, which is like 10 feet from the I-19...
Shipping Address
<personal information removed by admin>
Tucson, AZ 85706
United State
<phone number removed by admin>

And the supplied billing address is some couple-a-hundred miles down I-19, Mex19, Mex15 ...
Billing Address
<personal info removed by admin>
Hermosillo 84130
Mexico

The bike mentioned in the order is a 2002 Ducati Monster 900. And if you end up talking to the Tuscon Police Department about it, the case number is 0810020404 and we are calling it Mail Order Fraud and it was said to be delivered on 9/22 at 1p. The e-mail address from the order, <removed by admin> also has the name <removed by admin> associated with it. We've gotten no replies.

Also if someone stalks the mufflers and doesn't want to be the one to reclaim them, I'll cheerfully show up with some tools, paperwork, and beeers.

;D

I left as much as I could.  We have guidelines about no personal information..no lynch mobs started at the DMF.  I know that's not the intention at all and it's good to look out for this stuff, but the reasonable oucome of posting emails, addresses, and phone numbers online is that large masses of people will go after the guy.  We're not the Court.

Sorry to hear that...

Now, I'm not trying to be whatever, but did you actually ship pipes to Mr. Luis Fernandez -- at a Tucson AZ address, with an Hermosillo Mexico billing address under a different name, and an e-mail address under yet another name -- prior to receiving payment?   [bang]

Yup, sure did. We have enjoyed amazingly theft-free business catering to Ducatis. This is incident # 2 in over 10 years of business. Our credit card fraud rate is still 0% with this. The last time it happened, we got the word out and our customers helped land the thief in jail. AND our combined persistence with it helped end a somewhat major crime theft wave that was happening in Daly City, CA.

We already have plans about how to auth cards and not introduce delays to our customers, the hard part is merging those in with our work flow...

Did the CC co. fail to fund after an authorization, or was there no authorization prior to shipment?  Not trying to rag or anything -- just curious as to the chain of events.  Doesn't it only take a second to run an "auth-only" that will put a hold on the funds for 72 hours?  I don't see how that would hold anything up, shipment-wise (unless the funds weren't there to start with).

It's cool that you haven't had any trouble to speak of -- I just know of very few companies that ship so quickly that they don't have time to key in the card before the stuff goes out!

I'm up in Phoenix, but will keep my eyes/ears peeled.

I copied your original post to the AZDuc forum, and also the DesmoSOuthwest forum which is based in Tucson: http://www.desmosouthwest.com/forum/viewtopic.php?p=1604#1604

Great, thanks. I just registered on that forum.

Thanks,
Chris

BTTT -- Chris is a good guy -- anyone have any luck in finding the "Arrow thief" yet?

That is right. Chris is a good guy and in his defense, I am the one who screwed up on this one!!! I am the one who sends out the orders and he puts a lot of trust in me so I feel terrible that this happened. It was a bit of inattention that got me there too...sometimes we wonder if I may have a touch of ADD :( It won't happen again though and thanks for the support!

I apologize to one and all (especially Chris) for getting too specific and nosey with my questions several days ago.  More than anything, I was trying to get a feel for the situation -- and, as a business owner, possibly suggest a way to cover oneself in quick-ship situations.  It came out wrong, annoying, and rude on my part.  Again, I apologize.
