Purchasing stands

I am looking at buying the t-rex stands so I can do my own minor maintenance.  My question is for simple maintenance.   Should I buy a front stand, and if I do is it worth is to get the triple tree adapter also, or just pick up a rear stand.  Shipping is $25 for one buy itself or both together so I would save money by buying both now as opposed to the front stand maybe later.

If you already have tools, then get a front stand.  It's not absolutely necessary for most maintenance, but you'll want one later, especially if you have an interest in doing more and more maintenance on your own.  What you consider "minor" maintenance changes over time.  I promise.  I use my front stand all the time.  And yes, get the under the triple stand if you're going to buy one.   Besides, stands don't really lose much value.  You can sell them on craigslist if you don't use it.  That said, if it's a choice between front stand and tools, get tools first.

From reading your post I'm kinda confused...you are thinking of getting a front stand OR a rear stand?  Because you NEED to have a rear stand in order to use a front stand.  The front stand that connects under the triples will allow you to remove the forks, the fork mounted stand will not :) but it will allow you to remove/install the front wheel for example.

I have the t-rex front, fork mounted, and while very cheap it does the job quite nicely.

Sorry it was unclear.  I will buy a rear stand for sure, just wanted to see if it was worth it to get the front stand also.

NP - in my opinion, yes, it is worth it to get the front stand also.

It is worth having both if just for tire warmers at the track if that is your thing. I have been selling the Harris Performance Stands for a while now and everyone that has bought them loves them. Stainless steel is the way to go for sure. Take a look. If you are interested I will give you a screaming deal.

IMO the only way to go with stands is pit bull rear and forklift front WITH converter.  Obviously thats the more expensive route (approx $330) but gives you the most versatility (they'll last literally forever too)

even if you don't go pit bull, get a front stand.  You WILL need a front stand at some point

I bought T-Rex stands and they are great.  Solid as rock.  If Pit Bull are better, I don't know how ... admittedly I've never used Pit Bulls.  It a Porsche versus Vette thing  Both are good, one is blingy. ;D

For the price, I would (and did) go ahead and get the full set with triple adapter.  That way you can work on your forks, front wheel, etc.  Buying them together gives you a little savings on shipping, too.

newbie question does any T-Rex stand work on Monsters ( more importantly 696 ) ?
Favorite convo i read on this board
"PICS OR IT DIDNT HAPPEN"
"F**K U IT HAPPENED"

Suzuki Blvd M109R " Sliver " = assassinated by cager
PW 696 " Pearl " = traded in
M1100 " Loki " = Viking God of mischief ( Goddess in this case )
Life is not a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving in a pretty pristine body, but rather to come in sliding sideways all used up screaming F*CK YEAH WHAT A RDIE!!

The standard T-Rex rear stand should work with a 696.

I have a T-Rex and a Pit Bull and they are of comparable quality.

Would the bike tip over if you only used a front stand?

Would you want to risk it?

I can't wait until Marquez gets on his level and makes Jorge trip on his tampon string.

You can probably get away with it. I'd want to have a spotter.
