It's like I keep saying:  Those who would sacrifice a free range session for a giant beer, deserve neither free range time nor a giant beer.

I wanted to let the DMF know that Owen passed away at 1105 this morning.  He had a bad weekend starting on Friday night.  By Saturday morning at 0500 his back legs were paralyzed.  He and Laura spent that day out in Kent and then I went out there after teaching.  We spent all weekend with him and then saw the vet at 1000 this morning.

It is very sad, but we did the right thing by letting him go.

So sorry to hear that Mary. That really sucks.  :'(

Oh man, so sorry to hear about Owen.  Big hugs to you two.  RIP, Owen :'(

So sad to hear Mary.  Brought a tear to my eye reading that since it sounds similar to what happend to Izaac.   :-[

Owen was a cool dog!  I wish we could've gotten him together with Winston & Emma when we were living up there.

Randimus Maximus

Our Boxer Brian had another check up today with the orthopedic surgeon following his two hind leg knee surgeries to re-align his patella tendons over the last 3 months or so.

He's been on very restricted activity since well before the surgeries.

X-Rays today showed that the bones have healed properly and all hardware that was inserted is still in it's proper place, as are the patellas and corresponding tendons.

However, he is still a bit uncomfortable with his hind legs, and usually is quite cautious when sitting.  Most likely, he'll need a few appointments with a doggy PT to help him get straightened back out.  For us, that means we can start letting him run a little bit, allow him to climb stairs and even jump somewhat.  [thumbsup] [thumbsup] [thumbsup]  We'll start re-introducing him to daycare as he begins to build more muscle in his hind legs and more stamina from the additional activity.

While he still has quite a long road ahead of him (and us), he's doing considerably better than he was last fall when his patellas were luxating quite frequently, causing him a lot of pain, instability and potential damage to his knees.

Ducati is the pretty girl that can't walk in heels without stumbling. I still love her.
