Got back from riding yesterday and looked in the mirror and realized that a.) either my eyes are bad or shivering has made me IZ_ and b.) I'm pale/blue.  We're approaching my first real winter of motorcycle ownership and I'm not really sure what I'm going to do with my baby S2R.  Unfortunately, I live in a studio apartment in long island with no garage.  I have access to a backyard where I currently lock up my bike with a cover, but I'm not sure what I should do for the winter  ???  I've done all the reading I could on winterizing procedures so I think I'll be good with that, but as far as actual storage I'm a little stumped.  Thinking about getting one of these and leaving it outside?  (http://www.motoshell.com)  What is everyone else doing?  (Really wish I could some how get it in my apartment next to my bed, but it won't fit around the damn entrance!)  Thanks in advance for any advice guys!

(on a side note... can I really leave my bike for extended periods of time on my pitbull stands?  I feel kinda unsure of this.)

There should be no problem leaving it on the pitbull stand all winter.  I store mine using only a rear stand with the front tires resting on wood.

I'll be riding all year round ;D.  However if you did want to put it away you could rent one of those storage spaces for the winter and keep it there!  If i didn't have a garage thats what i would do.

+1...  that's what I would do too.  I left my first bike [72 cb750] out all winter under a cover and it just wasn't the same the next season [rust, etc.].  Don't do that to a Ducati!

garage>covered shell>uncovered.

If you go with a garage, many garages and service shops will house your bike for the entire winter.  I think the price is $50~$100 per month or $XYZ lump sum for the winter.  Some of the serivce shop will also do oil/fluid check change when they store it and when they give it back to you.

Got Duc

Garage.

I switch places witht he DRZ because I ride that during the winter.

DUC gets tucked away and goes into hibernation.

Pit Bull stnad for the rear and a piece of wood for the front tire. Covered of course. Battery removed and on the tender.
Why do roaches always die on their back?

That because the survivors flip them over to steal their sneakers and wallets.

I put a piece of wood under the front tire so the tire is not on the concrete for it's hibernation.

It even has carpet on it  ;D

thats not gonna stop it from flat spotting. lol. well the carpet would help displace the impression the tire makes. lol

Im gonna ride until the first snow fall. If you have a storage area around you (or if you are willing to leave your bike in NYC) there are those $20 a month storage places with cargo lifts. Just roll your bike up in there and pay $20 a month to keep your bike inside somewhere thats temperature controlled and secured! I know a friend who did that for quite a number of years. I have a garage but its just as bad as leaving her outside since its really just a brick shed.

Yeah I know. The carpet is just because it is for the duck. Plus it gives my buddies something to talk about when they see it.  ;D
