Bacon Vodka-Off: December 6, 2008, @ 3:30ish PM

Yep, you read the title correctly      : It's the holiday season, and what better way to kick it off than creating your own Bacon Vodka to compete in the first annual Bacon Vodka-Off    at Zach's and Catie's house on December 6, 2008 (exact time TBD).

The rules, you ask? The only rule is that you can purchase the vodka of your choice, but you have to personally create the finished product.

Here's a simple recipe I found on the internets to get you started:

Ingredients

3 slices bacon
crushed black peppercorns (optional)
vodka

Directions
1. Fry up three strips of bacon.

2. Add cooked bacon to a clean pint sized mason jar.

3. Trim the ends of the bacon if they are too tall to fit in the jar and add optional crushed black peppercorns.

4. Fill the jar up with vodka. Cap and place in a dark cupboard for at least three weeks.

5. At the end of the three week resting period, place the bacon vodka in the freezer to solidify the fats.

6. Strain out the fats through a coffee filter to yield a clear filtered pale yellow bacon vodka.

7. pour into bottles and enjoy.

I don't know. If you like a nice dirty martini this shouldn't be to bad.

Plus you get bacon in a heart friendly and inebriating liquid form. All the flavor... none of the fat.
