thats why i used snap-in plugs,
hard to find reverse thread bolt
which is necessary so the mirrors dont unthread themselves
with the wind force.

Okay, I feel dumb.  :-[ Thanks for explaining. I think if I push hard enough, they should go in. It's a really tight fit. Maybe I need to shave a bit off, but not enough for them to fly off.

Ahhh, a micrometer. Duuhh! Thanks again for another useful hint! For now, I just put my stock mirror bolts back on with the little gap. Maybe I can put a rubber band between them and use it as a slingshot. [evil]

I stopped by my local Home Depot and couldn't find the plug. I'll try Lowe's before giving up. Last resort with be taking out my trusty Dremel with the reinforced cutting wheel and shortening the bolt.  [evil]

Just flipping them upside down worked for me.  And the price was right.  ;D

I always thought it would be cool to chop off the stock mirror, shortening the arm to your liking and attach a bracket for a GPS, camera or other electronic device.

i actually tried that.......with limited success

but to be fair, the failure was more in my execution than the mirror steps, or the idea

Yes!  Just put mine on and couldn't agree more.  Bike looks so much better.
2009 696 Monster, CF Termi's, Hindsight LS CRG's, (yes that's it, have a lot of catching up to you guys...)

not to thread-jack, but how much better are these mirrors with respect to field of vision?

my bike came with a set of napolean mirrors, and I like them, but am considering the CRGs.  Can anyone offer an opinion of the CRGs vs. the napoleans with respect to field of vision?

I don't know how they are versus the Naploeans, but I can tell you I now know why some people just get one--you can see the whole road behind you just by looking at one side or the other.  I love mine!
