I just heard news that Girlrider (Maria) was hit by a car that blew a red light today shortly after leaving AMS Dallas.
She may/may not be critical: Unknown
The bike is totaled.

I think Cher is digging for more info as I write this.

If anyone else has any other info please keep the DFW-MF'ers updated.

Thanks.

Yep, just got off the phone with Rosa at AMS-D:  Maria is in stable condition at Parkland.  No other details available.  Anyone know what Maria's last name is?

EDIT:  Maria's last name is Sproul.  I was thinking of calling the hospital to see if she's been moved to a room, or if I could maybe get more details n her condition but then I remembered hospitals can't tell you anything.  Which is O.K. but...

I'm pretty sure all of Maria's folks are out of state so if anyone else around her gets some pertinent info, please make sure and post.

Gahh! that sucks. Peter at MotoLiberty knows her as does Keith (IZ_keith). They might have her info.

Thanks for posting that info Rich. After the other mornings exchange of words, that's good of you.  [thumbsup]

:'( Wow this is terrible !! I ride in that area almost every day because my studio is over there.

Poor kid - to be blindsided like that - if anyone finds out a way to help or comfort Maria I would like to contribute to that effort.  Guess all you can do now is make whatever cosmic appeal you deem appropriate - think I'll say a prayer !  :'(

Some scientists claim that hydrogen, because it is so plentiful, is the basic building block of the universe. I dispute that. I say there is more stupidity than hydrogen, and that is the basic building block of the universe.

You know, more than anything this pisses me off!! If they can catch someone running a light on yellow and have that hand out in three days for you to cough up $150.00 to the state coffiers, then why the hell can the state not put into effect a system that detects someone running a light and causing.an accident like this?
At the same time making an avoidance system for us.!

Got carried away I suppose, but I just hate to see people as defenseless as MC riders have no consideration. Truely it was an accident but I'd like to see some technology come out that could help us.

Really sorry this happened Maria and all my hopes and prayers are with you for a fast and full recovery. Hope to meet you soon!

This is a terrible thing.  Wish there were something I could do.  Wishing her the speediest of recoveries.

She left in an ambulance about the time that Scott from AMS/D got to the scene. An AMS customer had been at AMS when she was there and came upon the accident scene and called AMS. The f#@kers that ran the red light luckily stopped but they had no insurance... gee, what a surprise! She apparently had a hurt wrist, that was the only thing obvious so far according to what Scott found out at the scene.

Now the shitty part. The only reason she was there was to pick up my CRG mirrors and bar end adapters that I posted up for sale. We were going to meet on bikes at AMS, do the swap and maybe ride to lunch afterwards. Yesterday I had to bow out because I forgot that I had promised to split a cord of firewood with a friend and today at lunch was the only time this weekend he could do it. I dropped off the mirrors yesterday with Scott for him to give them to Maria today. :P Major bummer. Really messed up karma going on here.

I'll stay posted for more details. Thanks for all the info so far. I know she's a good friend of Keith so maybe she will get in touch with him and he will let us know something. She has my email and cell # but I bet she's a little busy right now! Lisa already found out her last name... that would be about all I could contribute at this time. I assume Scott somehow took care of her bike and got it back to AMS.

Be careful out there folks! Dumbass drivers by the 1000s that want to kill us all. Thank goodness she's not seriously hurt... hopefully.
