Occasionally AFM #702  My stuff:  The M1000SS, a mashed r6, Vino 125, the Blonde, some rugrats, yuppie cage, child molester van, bourbon.

tufty

Colin is out next year regardless, JT wants another couple of seasons. If the boss didn't want this he would have stopped it. Much, much weirder crap has happened in MotoGP in just the last couple of seasons.

I'm a little surprised how badly #5 is taking it though. C'est la vie, Tech3 ;D

maybe he thinks both he and his new crew chief will be gone mid-year sometime...     [evil]
Like this is the racing, no?

Replacement suggestions?

there's been a (what would seem to be highly unlikely) rumor about that if ben spies kicks wsbk ass from the get go, and if colin rides like colin, they would switch series mid-year

Sometimes change is good.

It's like the chase...

when you're after a woman.

The chasing is awesome...

the catching?.... :-\ [laugh] [laugh] [laugh] [laugh] [laugh] [laugh]

Never really been a Toseland fan, now I think he is an asshole [thumbsup]
Never attribute to malice that which can be adequately explained by stupidity.

due to the money put into constructors championships and the money and marketing potential of a bike ridden by a WSBK champ...I find this highly unlikely...the more championships a machine has, the higher the credibility and sales potential...just a point blank fact...and also out the window of spending goes a certain level of individual development for each rider in terms of the machinery too...in both series, so I find that it would be a waste of a lot of cash if that were to happen...

using his WSBK year to groom and prep for a move into GP for 2010 seems a much more likely and probably prospect IMHO...

I don't think he is an asshole...I do think it was a dick move for sure...but he is looking long term down the road and it is common for riders to drag an engineer/crew chief around with them long term if they bond and gel together...look at Rossi with Burgess, or Spies taking Houseworth with him, or Bayliss with Marinelli...this is the inner core essence of a team...JT didn't have it before and he wasn't gonna be able to pry Ronald Ten Kate's crew away from his own Honda WSBK efforts and due to a certain level of bouncing he has done from various teams...2 years with Ducati...2 years with Honda...now a 2 year deal halfway through with Yamaha in the premiere class and he is getting older and wiser and thinking more long term...I look at as another stage of development for him...developing a team core relationship with someone he can communicate with and get his bike properly/comfortably set to hang it all out...

Colin on the other hand has publicly wavered about his future and where he wants to go and what he wants to do for a couple years now...he has been all over the place...but I think he brought Reynders down with him from Factory to Satelite team after developing a relationship and level of communication....but just as easily in this whole deal...Reynders could have said no thank you...so he could be looked at as just as much of a dick...but he is also looking long term...

well yeah.. i did say i thought it was highly unlikely.  ;)

not to mention the fact that yamaha motor italia and the factory yamaha motogp teams are very different entities.  granted it's all yamaha, but that level of all-for-one has never happened before.

There have been more than a sparse person here or there that have said that the Yamaha Motor Italia and the Tech III team have some shared ties that would allow for Spies to later use to move/transition into MotoGP.....so that aspect of things isn't so far fetched...

If Toseland took Edward's crew chief in the middle of the season, they'd cover it then too.
