Starter compatibility

Are Ducati Starter Motors interchangeable? I have a 95 M900 and looking to swap in a Starter from an 04 DS1000.

As far as I know the newer starters will work on the older motors , you will need to possibly change the gear on the starter motor with your old motors gear.

The newer starters have an additional mount on the brush end you would just not use this if the starter has one. If you were worried about it I am sure you could bracket it.
