The family is staying at some resort in Bend this weekend, so Friday im traveling to Bend. Ive never been up there during the winter. I know i have to pass by mothers house to get there  :o well sorta i believe i go past government camp on 26. Anyways, will i need chains to get over the mountain or would there be any chance at all that i would need chains? I dont want to have to buy them if i dont need them, but at the same time i dont want to get stuck up there without chains if there is any possibility of needing them.

Obviously I'm not a local, but when I was up there with Mother a couple days ago, there was zero snow on 26 going past Govy...

They are snow zones, so it is supposed to be required to have them in your car. Not specifically on the car. However, I always check this first...

there is nothing up here that is even close to resembling snow

and

the freezing level is headed up past 7000 feet

This is the Weigh Station in Brightwood on Hwy 26

if there is snow here you can buy chains at Chris Page's shop about 8 miles past the Weigh Station and just past the Stop Light/Gas Station in Welches

Here are the passes on the way to Bend

For the record, if you buy a new set of chains at Schwab, you can return them the following April if you didn't use them.
