he wasn't the ... I pictured when I was reading the book.

I guess thats why people still read books, so they can make "it" anything they want it to be.
I promise to make better mistakes tomorrow.

I think it's always fun to see the movies after reading the books just to compare, but I have to agree, the books are always better (or at least that's the case in my experience).

Just curious (since I didn't read the book and am Ed Harris fan) who would/did you picture as Virgil?

[popcorn]

nicrosato

A taller, dark-haired man. Someone with a more impassive face. Ed Harris is a wonderful actor because he can be so expressive. The Virgil Cole in the novel comes across as a man whose face you can't read, but you always know he's thinking, calculating.
Nobody said that I did. Everyone says that I would.

I actually thought he did very well, seeing that Tommy Lee Jones & Robert Duval already did their stint in Lonesome Dove.

Hell, you could put Jones in ANY movie I'll show up.

And for the record:  Vigo was the man in Apaloosa.  IMO

OT I know, but I like Vigo in most of the roles he has played.  I really like the way he pulled off his character in Eastern Promises.

nicrosato

+1 on Vigo, overall and as Hitch in "Apaloosa".
