ice fishing, whos catchin and where?

ok, know there has to be some sportsmen on here so whos been ice fishing, where you been, and howd you do?

i'll start i was out on south center in lindstrom area today, sunfish up to your eyeballs it was hard to keep a line in the water. no size to them but fun to catch anyway

Thank god someone to talk fishing with; this past year all of my fishing budies got maried or had more kids so they can't fish (WTF)

3 weekends ago I was between green and south lindstrom in the channel by the boat landing spent 4 hours got some small crapies between 8-12am I was told the late afternoon bite was best by friends who live up there.
Then went to lake of the woods and slayed em x-mas week, the bigest problem was catching fish out side of the throw back slot.  Been spending all of my time on Isles catchin' wallies, none today jost a few perch a few small sunnies and one of the bigest sunfish I've ever caught, it was like a roll of tp, lol.  last week pulled a 22" walleye out of isles.  And have been to tamarack a couple of times for some crapies and tried for northerns but came up short on the northerns.

I was in lindstrom this morning wish I would have had my gear.  Do you live up there?  Do you have a house on the lake?  My GF is from Lindstrom so we are up there alot.  Where is the hot spot on the lake?  Using what?  I caught a 30" northern out of sunfish (sunrise?) lake by scandia last year, want to go back and try again.

no i dont live over there my folks live in east bethel just down visiting for a couple weeks and me and the old man went out there fishing.  we were out on the west side of pancake island on south center but most of what we were catching are small sunnys nowhere near keepers but we were out there for like three hours and they were biting so fast i couldnt even drink a beer or take a leak.

that was my first time out for the season, been way to busy with school. but last year i was catching pound crappies and huge sunnys on shell lake up by detroit lakes it was a blast

I don't care who you are or how old you are sunnies, crapies, and perch are fun to catch.  My old lady makes a mean perch sandwich and slamin crapie tacos.  After this motorcycle thing blows over I'll be on the walleye tour.  lol  If you are out on any lakes near lindstrom and see a black truck with cra stickers and a blue clam house next to it stop in for a beer and say hi.  Oh yeah and bring a net.

will do but heading back north later this week.  hopefully being able to hit some lakes that all the big ones arent fished out.  might be gettin some ice time on superior this weekend

I've always wanted to try lake trout fishing on the ice in superior.  That sounds like a blast.  I heard the walies are good in the harbor as well.  My Bro goes to umd and he's trying to get me to go up and give it a try.  Maybe some day.  Good luck!

Heading up to canadia this weekend for a 3 night stayover on a small chain of lakes. Going to be looking for some laketrout and walleye. I'll let you guys know how it goes.

As for fishing locally, the crappies have been pretty steady on Sturgeon lake. (about 1.5 hours north of the cities)

Hooked into some nice walleyes in Devils Lake a few weeks ago.  Fishing has been good down my way near La Crosse on the Mississippi.  Plenty of panfish, crappies, and perch.  Northerns were hitting real good, but has slowed a bit since.

I havent been out in a few days, but hopefully will early next week.

Hey oldschool; whats up with winter trout down that way?  I trout fish down there in the spring and early summer and have always wanted to try in the winter they gotta go someplace right?  I might be going up to devils lake for a balcher party.  We found this outfit that picks you up at the amtrack station and brings you directly out to the sleeper house.  Sweet deal, no driving.  I saw it on Kent Herbek Outdors (KHO) the greatest MN outdors show ever.  I'll be hitting Tamarack this weekend between wedings, open bars, and catered meals.  I'll be the guy in the suit over long johns with a 20 count of waxies in my pocket while cuttin a rug, cocktail in hand, disapointed girlfriend watching.  I'll report back with results
