Actually I'm looking for a route that takes me up to Ouray that is not 550. I may have to take my old RV (not fuel injected) up to DiTR cuz it's the only thing I got to pull my bike with. I'm thinking that if I take a lower route I won't vapor lock.Not that I've ever had a problem,  I'd hate to get sidelined here 3 days before I leave fornot having a vehicle that will cruise up and over the passes.

Hit durango, then go over to mancos, up that side of the san juan skyway (dolores, telluride, ridgeway).  It's a little lower, but your next best bet it going all the way up to dove creek, up to naturita, then to ridgeway.  Even going straight north and trying to hit gunnison is as bad as taking 550.

All, for reasons outside of my control, I wont be making it.  Sadly, its my first missed Ouray.  I will cancel my room later today unless someone needs it.

Knowing you I'm sure you made the right decision...just sad we won't get to see you.

Hey all the High desert hooligans that are riding thru Durango mid friday please stay in touch I would like to meet there again, for lunch as I did last year with dude from Minnisota.
I am leaving thursday and prowling for antiques in the farmington durango area tomorrow arriving ouray early friday AM unpacking 1098 and riding back to durango, provided the HDH's are going thru there.

We should be there 12:30ish.  And when I say ish I mean it. Hell, we took 550 last year & picked up no one along the way, and after a fuel pump going out, a screw driver through a tire & a bit of off roading, we pulled into Ouray @ 4:30 (we left Abq. @ 7:30) 
We'll try to clean it up this year.
