The real question is, where does Ben Spies hang his helmet next year?

With all due respect, spec tire racing in WSBK has produced fantastic results. Spec tire or not it has always come down to who picked the right tire for the race. WSBK or MotoGP. That's a constant, spec tire manufacturer or not.

I think Spies should stay where he is next year. Whether he wins the title or not this year. Another year of fantastic results (again, title or not) would up his play in MotoGP that much more. Besides, the new rules in MotoGP for 2010 kinda suck, don't see that crap in WSBK. He has found a gem in the Italian Yamaha team and should exploit that for 2010. Why go to a satellite MotoGP team when you could be winning WSBK titles? Just saying... besides, WSBK races are typically much better than MotoGP for the spectators. Of course the last couple of MotoGPs have been real exceptions!! [thumbsup] [moto]

Ditto, Big Ben has nothing but time on his side for this ride. You're right he's in for some titles if he stays and works this deal into stupid fame. He'll go on to be one of THE best riders if he stays healthy there has been. He's got the drive and (at this time) he's got the youth. MGP has it's pitfalls, mostly political it seems but  WSBK seems to be almost a NASCAR-like kind of following albeit better looking women!!. Rossi isn't going anywhere as long as he's competitive and there are too many Stoner's and Rossi's just waiting to rip him a new one. He's going to be a great draw to our sport much like Tiger Woosie Woods is to Galfe.

Is Rembrandt's still having their Sunday Moto GP watching parties? Is anybody having a watching party? of any sorts? Cars? Trucks? Porn?

fastwin

I haven't gotten any word from Moto Liberty lately asking me to post up any more Rembrandt watch parties. I never got the chance to make it to the last two so I don't know what the turn out was like. Obviously, ML has to kick in some $$ to Rembrandt's for the pleasure of having the party there and to offset some of the food/drink discounts, so if the crowds haven't been very large the parties may not have been worth it to ML... dollar spent vs number of customers that show.

Colin will be back this weekend from a week away from home, so I'm sure we will be a re-bonding nuclear family unit all weekend... not enough kitchen points = no watch parties for me. :P

Donnington grid all set to go. Bummer for Hayden. I thought he was really on to something lately and his season had finally turned the corner. Maybe he just doesn't like D. Park... oh well, he never has to see it again after Sunday.

More of the same from Mr. Spies in Brno!

Yeah, take a closer look at WSBK superpole spots 6&7! I  think they about have those bikes dialed in! We should have an excxellent finish to the 2nd half of the season. Biggio is looking better and better each race too. Got to hand to those new kids on the block.

Ho-ho! Aspar is going to Duc it out in MotoGP next  year: http://www.motogp.com/en/news/2009/Aspar+confirms+motogp+project+with+Ducati+in+2010

Their first choice of riders is 250cc Aspar guy Alvaro Bautista.  [thumbsup]

Fernando Hernandez of Onde 2000 is supposedly willing to fund Sete Gibernau's second come back at Brno. Crank up the rumor mill, it's midseason in MotoGP.

How many Ducatis can they fit on the grid next year, anyway?

Bautista has been hinting all year he wanted to ride a Duc. Him Simencelli and Ayoama are all going to be hot shoes next year but not on a 250cc.

Giannis

QuoteBautista has been hinting all year he wanted to ride a Duc

Why someone would want to do that? [bang] Did you see where the other Privater Ducatis Are? Dead LAST [bang] The 250 Rooks have to be in non factory teams next year..

that leaves a seat or two in Tech3 Yamaha. Gressini Honda one seat, maybe one extra bike on the new Telefonica Team .... Kawasaki isnt Sat neither Suzuki...

Caneppa is out but if was a 250 top name i would rather race same class again than ruin a year on a bike that is unreadable and looks like Ducati doesnt have a person who can develop this bike for the rest of the guys neither [drink] :-X

It's sad to see the Yamahas and Hondas so rideable at the satellite level but the Ducati's are not. Can no one other than Stoner ride that thing to a podium finish? Ducati Corse isn't stupid. Why is that one bike such a pain in the ass for anyone other than Stoner? Hell, Stoner and Hayden both came from dirt track beginnings. It's not like Stoner was a dyed in the wool 250GP guy like Pedrobot or Lorenzo. What is up with the Ducati bikes? New 2009 carbon framed bike be damned, it made no difference last year or the one before that!!?? Whaz up??? ??? [bang] :P

Cher

Yep, my thoughts exactly.  Very rotten Donington race for The Squad  :P

RED

Stoner has not been able to ride it like he (or top brass) wants and same with Nicky. Who knows what the problem is. Truth is we all know that the bikes can't be ridden to it's full potential. So why not de-tune and cut back on developing new technology and concentrate on the riders? It takes riders to win podiums.

fastwin

Screw the electronics and trick carbon stuff. Just give Stoner and Hayden a couple of extra cans of Red Bull before the start! Voila... problem solved and for cheap! ;D
