OK, it's been suggested that we need some more moto threads on this board.  [moto] So, here it is:

We started an oil discussion this past Saturday while smoking cigars and drinking some martinis.

I use Mobil 1 20w-50 V-twin in my 695. I know that some wet-clutch folks talk about clutch slippage when using this, but I have not experienced that after two go-rounds.

What do you think is the best oil for Duc's and why?

Why not throw in the argument of conventional versus synthetic while we are at it?  ;)

I use amsoil 10w40 motorcycle really for two reasons,

1. I know that's it 100% full synthetic
2. my supplier can get me however much I want pretty much at cost, straight to my doorstep in under 24 hours with no added shipping costs because the distributor drop ships from dallas

I'm a oil whore... can I say that? I'll use just about anything. I hate to admit it but it's true. Recently used Maxima "Maxim4" premium 10-40 in two oil changes, used to use Silkolene 10-40 until I couldn't find more than 1-2 bottles at a time at bike shops, even used boring off the shelf "Suzuki" brand 10-40 from Action Suzuki/Kawi recently. Really need to centralize my brand of oil so that all my scooters are running the same stuff. Of course I have been saying that for 10-15 years. [roll] I am interested in the whole Amsoil oil thing and the Ducati filter they offer.

I'm running AMS 10w40 in the 1098s and Motul in the Race bike... both great oil...

George, can't go wrong with any kind, just what you can easily get... besides its not like your racing and looking for the performance difference...

i think i'm going to start using a 20W-50 synthetic just because the SS seems to run so damn hot; i can't imagine what it will be like in the middle of summer here...unless Randy is able to work magic that brings the temp down (he said it may actually be running a bit rich).  saturday after coming back from charles' place that night it melted the plastic center of the rizoma clutch cover...i'm guessing that's not a good thing.

Dang, that is hot. :o I noticed it was still pretty hot even after it was on the lift for a while.
