So did anyone happen to notice that in the March edition of Cycle World that there were a suprising number of pages advertising (directly or indirectly) Ducati?

page 2 Nationwide Insurance: Ducati 1198
page 11 Ducati: 098 R Bayliss LE
page 13 Cortec: Hypermotard
page 14 Article: image of a 996
page 27 Article: Ducati Streetfighter
page 44 Geico: 999
page 46-49: 1198 S

It's like a Ducati smorgasbord!!!!

I don't know why this hit me, but it just stood out much more than usual.

I noticed and check out the nearly all Italian issue of Motorcyclist.  I think you will see something in the letters to the ed sections complaining about the Ducati Bias.

I love it

They useed all the cash from the "community support" for marketing. I recycle by buying old bikes. They use the huge mark u pprofits for other reasons.  [laugh]

I'm more of a fan of the British motorcycle mags,Two Wheels Only, Motorcycle Sport & Leisure, Bike, etc. They're bigger, they're better than the American mags, more photos, more in depth articles, twice the size (twice the price here in America, too). My criticism of them is their usual Triumph bias ( Hey i dig the Speed triple and Street triple but the Tiger is one of the ugliest bikes ever conceived by man).

Even they have had to give a lot of page time to Ducati. Let's face it 2009 is a huge year for Duc, the 696, 1100, 1198, Streetfighter, practically a whole new line up. Whether you like the design direction of the new Monsters or not; there is no denying the new 696 Monster is a huge success. Just look at all the members of this website who have bought one. If only they'd update that uglyass Multistrada they might sell some of those too.

I buy just about any mag with a Ducati article ( like the new March issue of Rider featuring the new 1100).

The American mags have gotten a little "thin", they need to up their game.

Sorry for the rant, I'm a sucker, I bought Cycle World also.

My apologies to your Multi, I'm sure she has a great personality.

Seriously, probably a great bike ( it is a Ducati ) Just not as pretty as, say................a Monster!

Probably the worst published review I have ever read. They liked the bike OK, but there were a few dumb ass errors in the article. It also pissed me off that they pregnant doged about the suspension being harsh...it's adjustable douchebags, get it set for your weight before pregnant doging about it.  [roll]

All in all it makes you wonder if Ducati's pockets for marketing have gotten deeper since they have switched to more "mass production."

On the other hand, if you look (especially) at the picture of the 999 for the Geico advertisement, there are no logo or model tags on the bike anywhere. Does that mean that they didn't have to pay royalties to Ducati?

I loose a lot of interest when reviews are done very sloppy and inaccurate.

There is an upgrade to the Muti Strada coming ,I forget the name they have chosen for it but I believe it too will use the 1198 engine.    Dolph       :)
