bought my s4r on saturday wrecked bike on sunday... i need help with replacing the gauges and the bracket that they sit on. also the headlight and it's bracket are fubar too... the bracket that guides the front brake lines down from the lower clamp seems to have taken a beating also... not sure how all this was properly mounted seeing as the first time i took a good look at them was while i was cleaning the bike after the major mishap. when i get the new gauges is it just plug and play? oh yeah just for the record the gas tank is dented, handle bars are bent, the gear shifter is bent the radiator was damn near ripped off the bike, front fender destroyed, clear alternative rear led light smashed, airbox cover broken, battery ejected from bike and red georgia clay packed in a lot of places

yeah I'm good only one little scratch... i wasn't ready for the first gear wheelie from the light switch torque but i handled it right up till the road bent right and i ended up in my neighbors yard on the rear wheel...

Glad you're OK.

You can download the parts catalogue from ducati.com, that will help quite a bit with how the parts go together.

thanks speeddog... so buying new gauges doesn't require a new keyset? correct?

any chance i can get an exploded parts diagram for the bike?

As long as you've got the red key and both black keys, you should be all set with a new gauge set.

The gauge set must be *brand new*, never installed on another bike.

If you go to this page:
http://www.ducati.com/en/bikes/service/parts/2009.jhtml?family=parts

You can pick the model year over on the left side, and then pick and download the parts catalogue, it's got exploded diagrams.

why dont you just get the ecu flashed (by one of the minor sponsors on the board) since thats probably cheaper than a brand new gauge and then get a aftermarket gauge?

hitman87

talk to me about these aftermarket gagues? what are my choices? oh yeah..just found out the tail section of the frame is bent right at the gas tank henge... this is getting expensive

I'd check out http://motogadget.de/   there are a couple I'd love to have on my bike to clean things up..

Sounds like you did enough damage to warrant totaling the bike.  Did you have insurance?  How old is the bike? Buy it new or used?

just a thought....but sounds like the S4R is way too much power for you if you were scared enough to hold a wheelie all the way into someones yard. if you can total it, id do it.

Anyway, speak to monstermash about getting the ECU reflashed. You can get any kind of guage you want, you just need to know how to wire it in since none of them are specific to any bike.

Your bike is totaled.  Give it up and count it as a loss.  "If" you were not insured then you will have to pay 4k+ easy to fix it and that is only if you can find someone to straighten the frame and you do the rest of the work yourself.  By the time you add what you paid for it to what you would pay to repair it you will have 12k+ wrapped up in a bike that has a salvage title. (unless the person who repairs the frame does not report the vin on it)

Not knowing anything about the age of the bike , mileage , condition when acquired, mods, etc. you may want to look up MrIncredible who has a s4r (S4R) for sale with some miles on it.

I'm sure you can find him pretty easily in " No Moto Content " " Gear " or the  " General Monster Forum."

I feel certain he would make you a fair deal. He's been wanting to sell his bike for sometime now.

It would be good if you post your " crash " details in the Forum where members do that where they talk about what they did that 'caused the accident , what they could have done differently to have avoided the accident . It helps other riders who may be just starting out to learn how to not make the same errors.

Best of Luck going forward with your bike situation.     Dolph     :)
