Dave that CF Icon looks very nice, you don't need to win often if you win stuff like that!

I've just recieved my Akuma Pantom CF with a transitions shield, to replace my 'starter' HJC CL15.

It's not as bright here  as the refected sky  would have you believe, the shield darkens quite a bit.

Nice one for you too! And thanks for the helmet compliment! My primary helmet is an Akuma too - I like it a lot, it's just a little loud. I like the transition shield that you got - I'll be curious to here what you think of it after you ride with it for a bit - you're the first person that I've seen to get one!

Dude, if I post a video it will be of my MIVV Suono exhaust.

I like how the lid feels like a part of my head, not like I'm wearing it.

The shield darkens nicely, the helmet is reviewed here (pics of the shield too)

I'm surprised how dark it gets. I will get some light / dark shots.

expect a cool nite ride tonight - will post results.

Neat features in that Givi. Does it pass DOT/Snell/or ECE with that removable chin guard?

MD,

According to GIVI, this X-01 is 'homologated' as a FULL helmet.
If you feel like browsing the web a bit, here's the link, http://www.givi.it/helmets/Fullface-helmet/
The 40.1 is not USA homologated; the rest, actually don't say...

what you typed here is accurate, but it also says its E3 P/J which means its ece certified with or without the chin guard I believe.

I never ride with it jet syle, the 'summer' full face bar allows a ton of airflow, and I really like my chin  [drink].  I'm pleased with it, my only two complaints are the flip down sun shade doesn't come low enough and it's not as plush as say a Shoei.

misterburns,

none of my 2 helmets, the Nitro N810-X[aka Zox Thunder R] and my Nolan X601 Checa Replica, have a DOT/Snell sticker on them, but, they do have the BMS/ECER22-05 and the JIS sticker and are no different from the helmets I've tried when visiting the US, so for me, the DOT sticker is a 'gentelmans word' and the SNELL sticker says that the helmet passes certain tests.

Yes, I do trust more the Europeans in straight out safety and yes, the Japanese, if they weren't so high in the price range for me[somehow European helmets are cheaper than Japanese in comparable specs].

I'm looking for another 'second' helmet, my Nitro suffered in my accident, the left side is cracked but my head didn't suffer. I'm leaning towards either a Shark or Suomy in the European front and was trying to decide between a Shoei or Arai but, now I get to know about Akuma so, new player, new comparasion.

There's nothing wrong with buying a mass produced "Rebel" helmet showing your support of the ideals of a violent communist sociopath, is there?
not to get off the subject, very nice helmets,  but do some homework first guy.  you obviously don't know much about the man other than what was fed to you by other ignorant people.  not that it really matters
