DP ECU folks -- question for those who are using

Does anyone with a DP ECU (factory or reflashed to) installed -- can you confirm if the bike will run if the gauge pod is disconnected?  (A factory ECU w/standard software needs the tach / gauge pod to run the bike due to the immobolizer setup functioning)

If you could test (a few minutes at most), it would address some questions people are having as of late pertaining to gauge pod swaps and functionality of the DP ECU itself.

Three pieces of information required:

1) year, make and model
2) has the DP ECU (or reflashed to ECU) been "red keyed" or not (ie: not initilized)
3) if you quickly disconnect the harness connector going into the back of the gauge pod -- will the bike start and idle then?
4) that's it -- reinstall
5) post the results

Thanks!

No dash, no start.

The antenna checks the key's code vs what the dash has been flashed to see (by programming the key to the bike).  If the dash/key match up, it sends a signal to the ecu telling all is well and crank/start the bike.

The DP ECU will not defeat the check, and therefore won't bypass the immobilizer.  The actual immobilizer is in the dash in the monster, same as the 999.   The only way to defeat it on the 999 is to mimic the signal the dash sends the ecu....hasn't been done to my knowledge.  The reprogram/flash simply resets the chip in the ECU, which will now be open to being re-key'd with a red key.  Whether or not the immobilizer sequence can be removed from the code in the ECU, I'm not sure.

As far as the DP ECU goes, it doesn't matter if it's been "red key'd" or not, without the start signal being sent from the dash, the bike won't crank.

Verified 5 mins ago on my bike.  Been down the immobilizer road with my 999 before as well.

Yeah, what he ^^ said!  ;D I have not married mine to the red key, immobilizer was functional from the moment I installed/started it and it will not start without the dash.

I'm not totally useless, I can be used as a bad example!

BTTT -- anyone else have an actual DP ECU for other years/models (2-valvers) and let us know the results?

I have an 07 S2R 800, With the DP ECU/Termi kit, I was next to the bike when they installed the ECU and the tech forgot to plug in the Instruments, dead as a door nail, when he turned the key, silence, nothing.
Not even a prime of the fuel pump!

PS: I was never asked to bring in my red key, as he said the instruments would not be changed, he said the red key was tied to the instrument cluster. 3 different ECU's and no red key was put in the bike.

Hope this helps

I'm running the DP ECU for the Hyper Motard 2 into 1 Termi setup on my 06 S2R1K.  I'll try unplugging the dash tonight & see what happens........ I've unplugged it often as there seems to be a sensor that the Hyper has that my bike doesn't...... every so often the guages go crazy when I fire the bike.  Tach goes to 11K & shakes & sometimes the blinker stays on as well as the highbeam light.  When I shut it off, sometimes it will reset & other times it will stay lit & I have to unplug the guages or unhook the battery.  If the tank is low I do the batery, if it's full, I do the guages.

ps  You should jusy buy the Ultimap U59 ECU I have for sale....... no dash issues & I'm sure you could tune it....... nobody here in LA will :'(
