Actually Howie, the $.20 is at the production level. Than doesn't factor in companies trying to maintain profit margins down the distribution chain. In the end, it factors out closer to $1.50 a pint to the consumer. You can try to argue the point but I work in beer distribution and know exactly where and what percent markups take place. I also read an email Kurt Widmer sent out to all of his distributors showing how this tax would effect his costs and how they would be passing it on to the distributors which pass it on to consumers...

All in all, a tax increase of this size is stupid and very unlikely to even get much consideration in Oregon. The only part I worry about is it opening the door to more potential legislation of the same kind...

$1.50 is certainly more significant.  No doubt you know what you are talking about, but, if it can be easily explained, how does a $.20 tax grow to $1.50 instead of just being passed on to the consumer?

because they have to keep the same profit margin. that 20 cents will decreas their margin so in order to cover the costs they will increase to keep that profit the same (or increase it)

it's called business in america, greed, or capitalism.

and i am already forced to buy a case of beer whenever i don't want to get raped on the price of a 6-pack. i really like widmer, but there are others that are less expensive and just as good. i'm not paying $50 for a case when i can spend $25-30 and get something just as good.

Oh snap!  No he didn't...  ;D

And any potential increases will be mitigated by the fact that if you wave a beer a Jbub too violently she gets buzzed.

That's fine by me, you won't get a complaint out of my mouth.

However, I find your dislike of me to be quite interesting to the point you will pay 10$ a beer so I won't live in your state.

that's pretty funny.
