hard shifting?

morning BTW
It has a few different symptoms. Hard shifting is not one of them.

It doesn't downshift properly all the time under two different sets of circumstances.

It also has a noise...sounds like a can of ball bearings.

There are TSB's for all issues. Sounds like they're having trouble with this unit.

Two of them are while you wait fixes.

One will require the trans axle to come out.

Ours will be going back sometime soon as well.   [bang]

The rear view camera doesn't work 80% of the time.

Must be a bad sensor.  Back up lights do come on in reverse, so the camera must use a separate switch to detect the car is in reverse.

That's end of summer right here... ;D

We bought a Ford Fiesta sedan in April.

The Focus had succumbed to NH road salt, and T had lost confidence in it. That, and it was a 5 speed manual and she really wanted a slushbox.

She's been driving the snot out of the car. There's close to 8K miles on it already. :P  She's pretty disappointed with the issues it's having. Hopefully the 'fixes' really are just that.

More driving conditions rather than hot cold.

TSB's include a re-flash to solve two symptoms. A replacement shift motor if that doesn't work. Those two are the while you wait items.

The noise is the most concerning. This transmission has some sort of dual clutch arrangement. There have been two updates in replacement parts from Ford so far. That's the one that requires the unit to come out.

We found out yesterday our proposal for the vacant lots we wanted to purchase was denied because we didn't include any renderings of our proposed house.

They didn't even ask for renderings.   ???

We were told we were getting a bidding package and then after calling the City Real Estate Department multiple times to inquire where said bidding package is; we got a lame rejection letter.

The whole situation smells very rotten.  Good thing we have a lawyer in the family.

DP,  "my" Ford Mondeo runs the autobox that isn't too.  Uses a pair of electromagnetic (?) clutches to achieve its shift trickery.  It works fine.... BUT... there are occasions when it sounds like a bag of hammers....  seems to be going "oh shit, not that gear... quick put this gear back and pick up that other one instead..." Its alarmingly noisy when it does this.  Sounds like its breaking apart, but yet theres no nastiness in its shift action, just sounds fatal.

But guys I work with say their Mondeos do it too, so I just ignore it and drive.   207,000kms in not much more than 2 years and no problems with it at all (once you learn to ignore the clattering going on down there).

The clunking carry-on isn't predictable, doesn't seem related to any particular driving circumstance and its not an overly frequent occurrence.

That pretty much describes it.

I'm fine with it, but T isn't and evidently Ford has addressed the issue. Ours makes the noise pretty regularly if you are coming to a stop, but don't, and then accelerate. It sounds like the thing can't make up it's mind and doesn't clutch but the thing picks another gear.

She says if you were making the payments you'd care. ;D

More concerning to me is it's habit of not shifting down when going up a hill. It works fine on the highway when cruise is activated, but around town if you don't accelerate to make it happy it won't shift. One time T got frustrated and matted it...it shifted...into a neutral.

All this said the thing gets amazing fuel mileage. We saw as high as 48 mpg avg. on our trip to VT.

The finishing avg for the 300 mile trip was 44.6 mpg

I think we are going the same direction, but I don't think it is political...I think it is someone who had an eye on it for themselves or a buddy owed a favor to and is hiding behind bullshit beaurocratic process to stimey your honest bid
