Would love to see some more pics of your bike with that headlight from the side if you got any.

Before a ride yesterday I snapped this:

Not knowing Richmond all that well, where is that exactly? The Nickel Bridge end of Monument Ave maybe?  ;) Bike looks good!

That's the Carillon, which is the World War I memorial at the South end of The Boulevard (right around the corner from Byrd Park/Shield Lake). The bike is coming along, new bars and seat on the way based off of your suggestion.

Yeah sure, I'll send you a PM so I don't derail this thread.

Yes, I never know the names of any roads..., but that's the route I take to the "Nickel Bridge".  :) Story of the name here: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Boulevard_Bridge

You have my card, so give me a ring on my cell when you get the stuff!

Ride out the road today, enjoying the sunshine and the occasional hummingbird-sized bugs...

Finally got to ride on the BuRP today (Blue Ridge Parkway in Central Virginia):

Better THIS weekend than next!  ;D Good to see you're not in cuffs too! Hard not to get carried away out there. These days I take the Triumph which doesn't mind 10 MPH over. The 796 wants to go 80 MPH everywhere.  ;)

No seat and bars yet?

Man it's no joke on that parkway. The level of constant patrol is unreal. I mean, it's 90% Harley riders so it's not like many people are actually exceeding that 45 mph speed limit.  [laugh]

Seat on the way (along with pipe), can't figure out which bars to get. I can't tell if the Rizoma bars are going to give a slightly higher rise than stock, which is what I want. I also don't know which Rizoma bars to get, Standard or Conical. Which one's did you get exactly again, I liked those?

Being retired, I only go out there during the week. Enforcement is probably a lot more lax then, and it may be a lot less after Mile 30 when you get more into the "wilderness". The NPS may want to discourage hooligans at the top end though.  ;D http://www.nps.gov/common/commonspot/customcf/apps/maps/showmap.cfm?alphacode=blri&parkname=Blue%20Ridge

Had I known you were going out there, I'd have recommended a good place for lunch. A lot of the roads nearby are as good or better than the Parkway, although they finally DID get around to resurfacing the top end recently. Before that it was getting pretty patchy and unfriendly. That part gets a LOT of snow in the winter because it's 2,500' - 4,000'.

The bar you tried on my bike is MA008A. It looks stock but is better finished. My dealer gets them here and you can see the angles and measurements on this page. Site sponsor Monsterparts seems to have them too. His site just doesn't list the part numbers. http://www.motovationusa.com/mvstore/scripts/prodView.asp?idproduct=562

The bar needs to have holes drilled for the nubs on the controls, so measure tree times and drill once.  :) My dealer had to redrill mine on delivery because the angle was wrong and my contols were too "flat" and I couldn't see anything in my mirrors.  [roll] He was a good sport about it though... http://gallery.leica-users.org/d/282951-1/Rt_-Above.jpg

Hope you like the Sargent. You can send it back if you don't..., but that's unlikely. WHAT pipe? I'm deaf already!

If you haven't lost my business card, my cell number still works on there as does that e-mail address. Give me a ring sometime.

This is from a few weeks ago when my buddy my Andy said screw it and took the bikes riding the fire roads at Blue Ridge, GA.

Competition Werkes slip-on (with DB killer inserted):

Man I swear I relieved the bike of 20+ pounds after taking off the shotgun exhaust, hanger and peg/brackets. And wow, who knew there was a single-sided swingarm under that thing?!

No modification goes unpunished. Memento mori.  Good people drink good beer.  Things happen pretty fast at high speeds.

It's all up to your will level, your thrill level and your skill level.  Everything else is just fluff.
