I'm free for the 18th & 19th. Since I'm a little larger than what Ducati uses as the standard rider, I am pretty sure I could use a suspension adjustment. I am also in need of a new front tire. If Dave is willing do a little tire changing and one more participant is okay, I can handle the grill. :)

Ken

Yay!!!

Tire change -- no problem!!

You ARE the grill man!   ;D

Now if Mr. Tentative will post up!!   [roll]   ;D

Dang, too bad this is in Central NC.  I would love something like this up here in the mountains as suspensions is one of those areas I'm not comfortable tinkering (just like transmissions & timing/head stuff) ~

JM

Make the trip...you can stay at my place.

There are a few of us in the RDU area who have done valve adjustments.  You should make the trip next time for that too.

Hmmmm...this might be a good time to open the Ex-Box for repairs.

John - are you willing to do a little welding on the guts of my Ex-Box?

I've got a pre-marriage meeting (ceremony/make sure we're ready/hammer out ceremony details) on the 18th with my fiancée & the official (1 of 4) so I'll have to pass on this one.  I appreciate your offer on the stay, as I'm 4ish hours from Raleigh. [thumbsup]  I'll keep watch for other happenings though and try to join up next time.  Seems like a great crowd in the RDU area ~

I don't mind valve adjustments, I've been doing them on the Monster for the past few intervals.  I just don't really understand the whole timing thing where I could pull a head, put it back on and know everything was operating correctly.

OK, next time maybe.

About the head work -- all the more reason to come here and do it.  We could get a good crowd together, possibly including a tech with Duc training.

Oh, about your pending marriage --  best wishes!!

Spacers and oil, I was planning on doing the same thing.  If the 18th definitely works for you, we can go ahead and make it a solid date.  I can't remember Dave's exact address, so I'll let him send you a PM.

What are you using for spacers?

18th works for me but so does the 19th.

I was planning on using thick walled PVC but a MI friend made me a pair to spec out of aluminum.  They were free but the delivery time was terrible!

Is that me? It sounds like me, but I'm not sure.  ;D

I'll show up unless it's raining or unless I'm working 7a to 7p  :(

I should be able to make either the 18th or 19th.

And of course I'll weld it up for you.

Hey Rameses, can you weld aluminum? My poor little Duc needs a weld on the oil cooler and especially the bolt surrounds for the kickstand/rearsets. [popcorn]

Kewl, thanks!  I just hope that the welder can "reach" down into the resonator of the Ex-Box.   :-\  No one knows what it looks like (and therefore how much room there is) in there.  Regardless, I ordered some stainless rivets from McMaster-Carr to button it back up.

Welding aluminium is difficult, but I wouldn't put it past him.

If not, Tom at Carolina Custom Powdercoating can weld aluminium.  Or, a radiator shop could do it.

I don't have a setup capable of welding aluminum.

If using a MIG machine, it requires a spool gun since the aluminum wire isn't stiff enough to push through the lead.

If you have one, I can weld it for you though.

(But my guess would be that if you had one, you'd know how to use it.)

A spool gun for the MIG welder I have is around $250.  I'll put that on the shopping list.  I'd really like to learn to weld steel AND aluminium.

STOP YELLING AT ME.   :P

Saturday sounds good.  I think Rameses is pregnant doging out on us though, so don't go tearing your Ex-box apart just yet Dave.
