Ok, so it seems that I will be connecting two wires to the battery's positive terminal

Yep, as pictured in my very first post in this thread.

I see. Originally I had no idea what was going on there.

Yep, its pretty straightforward once you have identified what wires you are replacing.  Really only a 2 beer job.  [drink]

Getting that solenoid out and back in place with the new fat wires on is a PITA though, just no room in there for your hands.  Plan on a few scars from that part.  ;D

heh. my wife has skinnier arms and hands.... [mental gears be turnin' - this might require acquiescing to a shoe shopping trip...]

Did it this evening. That solenoid is a pregnant dog - located just under the battery tray, where there couldn't be any less room to move your hand.

Once I knew where the wires were going, it was straightforward (y'know. after you told me to discard that one wire).

Bike DOES fire up faster. I'm impressed. I would not hesitate to recommend this to anyone. I actually want to encourage people to do this, and the DynaCoils kit to all of the older Monsters.

This is great!  I've been having issues starting as well.  Just ordered the kit.

Same issues here with my '99.  I'll do it myself, I have all the tools and such.

I just intall the kit on mine ...it's really straitforward

The only thing is the positive cable is about 2 inches to short  [bang]   I've call powerlet and they send me one today to replace it  [thumbsup]

Hi
Ive got my kit and the positive lead is about 65mm too short. Dont know if they will send another longer one to Oz.
Did you remove anything to get to the solenoid. Did you leave the solenoid in place or remove it to assemble.

Thanks, Al

I Add to call powerlet so they have send me back a replacement   who as yet to arrive ....
for the second question.... yes I add to remove it completelly  out of the bike and it's impossible to repace it at it's original pace  [thumbsdown] and I have really small hands ;D!!!!   next week I'm taking out the battery box so I can place it to it's original place [bang]

Thanks
My hands arent exactly big .... but bloody hell! I was also thinking of removing the battery box. Have to wait for reply from Powerlet on short lead or get another made here before installing.

From what I've read powerlet has known about this too-short positive for a long time and still haven't done a thing to fix it.

This is an OLD topic (thanks Search feature), but does anyone have an accurate cable length that Powerlet SHOULD be using?

And here I thought this would be a Viagra spam thread  [coffee]

Seriously, I'm looking into this very mod at the moment. Thanks for the info. [thumbsup]
