This is Pete from COS, now here in NM. I know it is pretty tough as I have been through some of those emotions. Went through some of what you are going through. I think you are very wise. I think if you treat your ex respectfully your daughter will learn much from that. I know you treated you ex very well Anson. I know that. She is the big loser in this. Be there for your daughter. I do hope whatever route your ex takes that she keep your daughter in mind first and your daughter is treated very well by whomever your ex winds up with. My sons are grown up as the last one graduated from high school last year but I just try to not say anything negative about their mom. I slip sometimes and I know it is difficult but your daughter will be the one gets the most benefit out of it. I think I can reasonably say my boys will say mom and dad acted civily to each other after the divorce. If you want to get hold of me your mother has my phone number.

i`m feeling better this pm took alyssa out fishing today and we had a grand time. no fish but a couple nibbles.

on the down side there were fire crews, sheriff, a twin prop circling and several news vans. the river was high and i have a feeling it ate somebody today.

That first session where you deal with seeing the ex with another is traumatic, no matter how it ended.  Even the amiable breakups leave a mark when you see them moving on, even if you have moved on yourself!   I don't think there is any way around that feeling, it's just part of the human experience.  Be glad that you are here to experience all of life's smorgasboard of emotions.  It is better than the alternative.  What don't kill you will make you stronger.  Hugs to you and Alyssa.

I say use a cold wet trout.. about 19"-23" long.. That'll leave far more of an impression on someone than using a bat.
