Saw this motorcycle at the courthouse today. Perfectly good tread on the sides, with an inch wide strip worn down all the way to the threads all the way around the middle of the tire. Why is he riding that around town!?

Did you invite him or her to a practice/track day?  ;D

Having had a nor'easter blow through here yesterday with cold rain & snow, and having to endure it in the morning in moving my sailboat from its mooring about a mile to the boat yard where it resides on land for the winter, I decided to look at the November weather in ABQ. Looks like lots of sunny days with afternoon temps in 60's & 70's. I am so ready to looking to our arrival on the 17th.

Careful guys, moto cops are out this morning even though it was only 32 degrees out! They saw me doing 20 over the limit, fortunately I'm really good at hiding.  [laugh]

There is an interesting cable channel on vehicles mostly cars and many times motorcycles on HD theater, now called Velocity channel...Dish TV 5710. The show called Cafe Racer is super interesting...lot of folks here would love it! They rebuild vintage and new cafe racers...there are motorcycle auctions! The next 30 minutes today is on rebuilding a street cafe racer outta our loved 1098 aftr a track high side...the previous one was engine performance and how to redesign squish on an old Norton engine for power...I am glued!!!

Stu, Scott, Wayne, Karl, Ed...this is fun!
Ride forever...

On Comcast the channel number for Velocity is 225.  Cafe' Racer is on tonight (Thurs.)  The show is fun to watch.  Some of the builders are quite creative.   [thumbsup]   It sure beats watching another chopper get built for a big company's annual picnic.  I also like the lack of artificial drama between the folks in the shops.  The interactions seem more realistic.  There's only so much that I can take about the feud between Sr. and Jr. on OCC.    [thumbsdown]

The Cafe' Racer show does make it look easy to build a bike or restore/repair one.  The truth for me is that some problems take days, weeks or even months to solve.   Finding the right parts can also take a big bite out of your schedule.  But problem solving is one of the attractions of the hobby.  Lots of "one-off" stuff gets dreamed up, developed and built by Scott, Stu, me and many others who do this kind of work.   [coffee]

If you race one of these old bikes, the whole dynamic gets speeded up by a factor of 10!  Things have to get fixed by the next race or you don't race.   It can quickly turn into a real job.  But, it is great fun too and I know that many others enjoy racing, track days, and building/modifying their two wheeled machines.  ..... Happy wrenching, wenching...?, TV watching and motoring... To all!   ;D

I think I have every episode on my DVR, for what that's worth.   ;D

Wait until the end of the year if you want a real Ducky suprise.  They'll do a spot on Rich Lambrechts' "Cafe 31" project.  It's a 900 bevel drive Ducati in a heavily modified 860 GT frame.  There is a picture or two of it in my Barber portfolio.  It's terribly small!  The Bostrum brothers took it out and beat it up at Talladega GP Raceway and pronounced it "perfect"!  It has modern superbike suspension bits grafted onto an old frame with tons of bevel horsepower.  Ooooh-la-la!!!   [Dolph]

I can't stop laughing at this...  [laugh]

Last wednesday night I was headed down I25, northbound around 70mph in my trusty ol Stratus.. Just cruising along in the left lane.  There were 2 cars behind me, and a single headlight behind them.  I, being semi decent, decided to move over into the middle lane and let them pass.  I see the single headlight bounce over to the middle, then right lane. It then passed the car behind me, swooped behind me, then back over to the left so it could pass me.  I heard it.. the tell tale Blahhhhhhh of a single cylinder engine.  Thought Maybe an enduro? Dual sport? KLR?  Nope. Imagine my shock as I looked over and saw a black full faced helmet, bomber jacket, cream colored khaki's and a white Vespa.  I'm still doing 70 and thinking WTF? They go that fast??  It very slowly pulled up beside me. I kept looking over in disbelief.  Then, It happened.  The rider dropped over into a full tuck.. (a full Vespa tuck that is..) and somehow it gave him that last little bit of aerodynamic edge he needed to pull ahead of me, swoop over through the middle lane and onto the San Mateo offramp.  I lost it.  Seeing someone tuck on a Vespa was just about the funniest thing I've ever come across while driving on the freeways.  Could not stop laughing and I still get a kick out of telling the story.  Who knows.. Maybe he had a HC piston and a full Ti exhaust?  Maybe Vespa, Being Italian, uses Termignoni's too??   [laugh]
