I know that San Fran is doing their "reduction of noise pollution from motorcyles" gig... only motorcycles? Not VW beetles?

btw, with all the enforcement going on this weekend up in the Mts (previewed in the ride notes 5/30), I came across this on the net. Ya it's non-ducati but I thought was interesting to post here...

any thoughts on the turn signal issue? I mean, if they're gonna be up there every weekend pulling over riders for apparent turn signal violations, isn't that singling out a specific demographic group? A lot of those rice-burner 4 wheelers have modified turn signals themselves and they go up on the same roads as us. I checked out the DMV documents and there wasn't anything specifically denoting that aftermarket turn signal use was against the law specifically.

Most aftermarket signals are not DOT approved and many of them are not mounted with the required space between signals, I believe.

I did a search on "turn signals.  Second post.   ;)  Does that answer your question?

... looks like the days of motorcycle modifications with bling-bling stuff is over... has to now all be "under the hood"

Not much of my bike is stock and that's pretty obvious.  I keep my papers in order, and my attitude in check when I get stopped for the other ass-hattery I do on the Il Mostro--Not one officer has ever hassled me about my illegal license plate, tail lights, tail chop, muffler, missing emissions bits, noise, etc., etc.  I have heard that folks get stopped for the license plate thing once in a while, but it seems like they're generally riding something Japanese and a little too fast when that happens...and they're dudes.   [laugh] (Us girls don't get stopped a whole lot.)   ;)

I've been hassled about plate mounting before. The CHP likes to set up gestapo checkpoints at Hwy 92 and 280, waving in every motorcycle that comes by. I managed to get out of it without a ticket by playing dumb and telling my story about losing the tail kit and having to rebuild it.

I have been stopped for the license plate mount on my Monster -- the only time I've ever been pulled over on a bike, in fact. My plate is not even blatantly illegal, it just sits at a 45 degree angle instead of vertically. The cop let me go with a warning though.

... because they stopped making parts for your bike about the same time as the steam engine's invention.

Too bad for you.  I had a 5-pack of Miller here with your name and a bow on it.   [coffee]
