Anyone going to Be driving near Lubbock?

My insurance company is throwing a fit about the distance between Lubbock and AMS Ducati in Alvarado (outside of Dallas/Ft.Worth).   They are trying to get me to give my Duc to the local Honda shop for them to make an estimate and "repair".

If anyone will be making this trip, and would have the means my Duc could use a ride.

Stick to your guns, ClickJack. Your right to the repair shop of choice falls under the Consumer Bill of Rights for Personal Automobile Insurance,  which your insurance company is required to provide you when you first enroll,and then annually on renewal. 27. CHOICE OF REPAIR SHOP AND REPLACEMENT PARTS.   You have the right to choose the repair shop and replacement parts for your vehicle.  An insurance company may not specify the brand, type, kind, age, vendor, supplier, or condition of parts or products used to repair your automobile.

I think AMS is the closest Duc shop to you in Lubbock, so your ins co doesn't really have a defense for not covering transport at the prevailing rate.

Just curious, who are these slimy bottomfeeders, anyway? Progressive, by chance?

No, not Progressive.  They raped me about a year ago and then when I got a new bike, demanded way more money.  So I left them.   

My insurance company made good and scheduled a pick up to take my bike to AMS.

So what's this parts thing?  I'm thinking that a new hanle bars and clutch leaver from Ducati won't be that much cheaper then aftermarket one's from Rimoza I was thinking of switching to anyway.   But I don't know how to go about making this happen?

There is no law against substituting aftermarket parts (as long as you are not thinking of adding highway pegs for that long ride back to Lubbock from AMS). 
The InsCo is only going to authorize the cost of OE parts though, which in the case of Ducati parts, is substantial. That's like getting a discount on the Rizoma levers and bar, so, if you can scrape together the difference, why not upgrade?
