First "Self" Oil Change... Couple of after-the-fact questions...

Hey guys.
Got through my first oil change pretty flawlessly, not too many hitches, but do have a couple questions.

My biggest issue was that, in true corey fashion, i kicked over a quart of my $10/qt MX4T oil that was open... FAIL
I lost about 2/3 a quart.
Which leads into my first question.
After all was said and done, added roughly 3 quarts of oil, no more , no less.
The bike seems to be full up.. I ran it for a few minutes to about 175°, shut her down, let everything settle for roughly 5-10 minutes, checked her again while upright and on the ground, and she seems to be holding oil steadily just below the MAX line.

My question is, does 3 quarts sound right?
The manual calls for 3.3L, which is a bit more, i'd say almost 1/3 quart more, than 3 quarts...

Next question...
Can any damage be done from over-tightening an oil filter, aside from ruining the seal and causing a leak?
I bought a K&N, so i was able to torque it to the factory 11nM, which is about 8 ft lbs, or 96 in lbs...
I was turning and turning and my wrench would not click, so i dropped it down to 85 in lbs and got it to torque to that... seems like it's on there pretty good...

I'm probably over-analyzing all this stuff... it's just an oil change.
i guess as long as everything is on there, the oil level is full according to the sight glass at temperature, and there are no leaks.... i should be fine...

Unfortunately i also  found  a small amount of debris in my mesh oil screen... very small fingernail clipping like pieces...

note to all: after lubing your oil filter's seal, put the cap back on your oil...

3.3 L is the total oil capacity.  No matter what you do, some oil is left behind.  You did good (except for kicking over the oil).

If you over tightened the oil filter and it is not leaking, worst case scenario is you may have a hard time getting it off at the next oil change.

Finding some debris in the screen for the first few oil changes is normal.

cool beans.
thanks for the reply howie.
i figured i did okay... i thought about it and there's probably a good amount of oil left in the oil cooler system, plus the stuff left in the pan after draining.
