Looking for Moto Trailer

Looking to buy a trailer. Would anyone buy one of those 3-rail trailers? I don't like them. I'd rather have a wood floor with chocks and dual wheels. Is that reasonable? Or do the 3-rail trailers carry a SBK or two? Tire sizes? What's best? Who's trailered for a while and what set up do you have?

Tanks a mellon y'all,

I personally wouldn't buy the rail trailers unless it's a Kendon or similar but they are pricey.  Most of the rail trailers are made for dirt bikes; we used these growing up and remember the things bouncing all over the road....good times.

Personally I don't like trailers with wheels under 15 inches but that's just me.  My trailer is multi use so I bought a heavy BigTex trailer form a buddy that was getting divorced (don't ask the price because I stole it).  I saw several nice ones on craigslist or even get with Webspoke, he just got a nice one too.

Found a new 6'x12' Best Yet in Granbury for $850 w/3500# axle, full lights, 15" wheels, 2" wood deck and 4' ramp. Big Tex same trailer $1075. All I need are the choks and flat tie downs. I can install those though.

Those are good prices, especially for new.  Much less and all you find is rusted, beat up stuff.

There's a Harbor Freight off I20 and Granbury Rd.  [thumbsup] Great place...

I have 2 chocks from HF if you want to buy them used.  PM me if you're interested.

Granted, they are pricey and don't have 15" wheels, but owners report carting Harley dressers on these cross-country to Daytona without incident:

I don't anticipate a lot of heavy trailering, but I could see keeping this in the back of the VehiCross for that time when I might call my wife and say: "could you please come get me?"
Wednesday night at the Amsterdam comes most readily to mind here; but taking the bike to the shop, and occasional local track days would work, too.

Oh, the humanity of it all!! Jeesh John, when do you intend to pull the stake out of my heart?   :-[

My very inflated two cents: I like having a wood floored utility trailer as my bike hauler. It's 6.5'x10' so it's big enough for two bikes, it has a 6.5' removeable tail gate that's about 18" wide, it's braced and covered with expanded metal and has a lip that securely hooks to the back of the trailer... voila, a ramp! It also has a large wheeled dolly on the tongue which is a life saver. It's nice to be able to unhook a loaded trailer, roll the wheeled dolly down and push the trailer around where you need it. Very convenient. I've been stuck in some really tight jams and being able to separate from the trailer and reposition it was great.

Most of all having a removal wheel chock turns the trailer into an instant versatile utility trailer capable of hauling anything. It's nice not being restricted to hauling only bikes.

Dude, you hit the nail on the head. That's precisely why I am getting it. I haul lots of stuff (or could if I had a trailer) and this is just what I've been waiting for. Landscaping materials, stone, materials, wood fencing, tree brush, lawn mower, BBQ pit. I could go on. I'm going to see if the manufacturer can paint it in Ducati Yellow at the front fading to black fading to Ducati RED! I'm going to put a Corse decal if I can find a large one on top of the utility box on the tongue which will also be painted yellow.

Seriously look into a crank down dolly that has a wheel. That's the most useful thing about my trailer. It's great when you have to move it abd it doesn't matter if it's loaded or not. Makes trailer life so much easier. [thumbsup]

I'll say it again.........HARBOR FREIGHT or you can add Northern Tools to your list.  The wheels are cheap if you don't get it with the trailer.  My trailer has both for that reason.

Yeppers, the roller jack is a necessity when there's only one person (me) working this thing. I had a 16' bass boat years ago and it saved my butt on the ramp plenty of times.

And yep, the Harbor Freight place is a gold mine I can see. I'm going to put some of their chocks on the trailer. The box is from there as well. Although I don't know where to get the chrome 24"ers from  ???
