There is a very cool gun shop in Westerville, Ohio (North Suburb of Columbus) called Aumiller Gun Shop.

I swear, they have between 20-30 full auto Class III guns for sale. Anything from full auto M16 to Tommy Gun's to Uzi's.

I was in there the other day buying some 30rnd AR Mags and saw a few M14's for sale.

The first was a Springfield for 10k, select fire.

the second was a Winchester for 19k, select fire.

First, I didn't know Winchester even made an M14, I thought that was a Springfield gun, but I suppose just like the AR platform, many different manufacturers.

So I asked the old guy working (all a bunch of old dudes work there, very knowledgable and friendly.........once you are a repeat customer and know your shit. He remembered me and asked how I liked my Saiga) why the price difference.

I guess the Springfield was converted to full-auto while the Winchester came from the factory full-auto.

Can anyone explain what the difference would be and would warrant nearly a 2x the price????

I have class III goodies but I'm no M14 expert. I have semi M1As. Maybe the factory Winchester is more collectible/valuable to the class III crowd. I would also assume a converted weapon would always have less value status than something that came full auto straight up from the factory. For example, an original Colt M16 in the box versus an AR platform gun that a class II manufacturer converted with a sear swap.

Not for sure, just a somewhat educated guess. I'm sure the pros will chime in with the right answer. [thumbsup] I just kick myself for not picking up a prestine Devine, TX M1A years ago when I had the chance. Went for a legal FN-FAL G series gun instead. Nice piece but I would love to have the Devine next to it in the safe.

Have you ever shot a full auto .308? Damn. Shot an HK sear gun once and after about two 20 round mags I handed it back. It can be a workout.

I've never had the luxury of shooting a full auto gun before. I'd love to.

However.......after watching some youtube videos of full auto Saiga 12's with a 25rnd drum mag.........I will pass on that as my first experience.

I could only imagine a full auto .308, but imagine the kick isn't terribly bad, it is just a heavy gun to begin with.

I'd love to shoot a SAW (5.56) then the GULF (.308)

m-14s are useless on full auto, if you want a .308 belt fed, get a browning 1919... The only really controllable .308 battle rifle is an italian BM-59, which has a very good muzzle brake. An m-16 is a hell of a lot more versatile than pretty much anything else and is a great deal if you want a FA gun. I had one, ran it in .223, .22lr and 9mm. There's beltfed uppers that come in .223, .22lr, and 8mm. btw, the reason that the winchester m-14 is worth more is because it's a real military weapon, the springfield must be one of those made by SA, inc which work fine but have no collector value. TRW and Harrington and Richardson also made m-14s in addition to the real sprinfield armory in Springfield, MA. They were also made by the Taiwanese.

Most likely.

The 249 is an interesting weapon system.  I'm still a fan of the Pig though, especially in the E4 flavor.

fastwin

Sorry bro', gun savvy but what is the Pig in E4 flavor? 'Splain for the dumbass civies out here. Please sir. I'm all over the 249 SAW but what's the Pig in E4?

"show off your guns" not "show off gun pr0n"

i picked up a Kahr CW9, the low-budget version of the P9.  I love it.  it definitely isn't finished as nicely a the P9, and doesn't have a polygonal barrel like the P9, but it's $200 cheaper.  It has the same frame though and function is identical.

I have had an E9 for ages, from the first generation and a buddy of mine has a K9 and I can't say enough how impressed I am with their design and function.  The trigger op is the best of any DAO pistol I've handled (and I've handled a lot of them).

I tried a P9 years ago but didn't like it for some reason.  I grew to like it a lot, but then didn't like the price -- they aren't cheap, but they have some very expensive features built-in, stuff which I don't personally think is necessary on a carry pistol.  The CW9 answered that for me
