Hi all, i was browsing over some posts about motorcycle covers but am still facing some questions...

I park my bike (09' 696) at work everyday and i am forced to park outside where the sun is beating down all day. I have already seen some fading in the black plastic parts on the bike and i need to buy a cover...Everybody recommends the Geza Gear covers but here are my questions...

1) The geza gear cover only covers the top half of the bike...what about the bottom....???

2) Which cover provides the best protection against heat and UV..(not interested in water proof etc...)

3) What should i stay away from....

I had the same problem as you, the sun damage to my Monster was pretty extreme in only a short period of time, I searched high and low for a quality cover, but I kept striking the same issues:
1: Complete bike coverage, but you have to wait for about half an hour to an hour for the bike to cool, by the time it's safe to put the cover on you have either forgotten or gotten to tied up with other things and can't go an put the cover on.

or

2: The cover can go on, but it is a loose fit, so in the wind it flaps around scratching the paint surface, or worse, it blows off the bike.

or

3:The cover traps water under it all day, holding water and moisture in, causing potential corrosion issues later in the bike's life.

After nearly 12 months of searching I gave up,  In the end I purchased a Geza gear cover, like I say to everyone, the product is great, I can put it on the bike seconds after a ride, but there customer service is very average, but it fits well, doesn't flap around in strong wind, seems to handle rain quite well, granted it doesn't cover the bottom half of the bike, but I figure the most sensitive stuff is all on the upper half anyway. If I was storing the bike outside, I would then get a full cover, but for work and being able to cover and remove it quickly, the Geza is the winner.

My biggest problem is #2, I figured out a way to anchor it down under the bike so that it fits tight enough to not be able to fly off, but fortunately the one that I have is soft on the inside and doesn't scratch the finish on my Monster. I can usually cover my bike right away as long as I haven't done a long ride. The CF exhaust that I have is cool enough to touch right after riding without risk of burning you, and the motor cools quickly enough to not be a problem. That being said though, since I leave my cover at work, I usually end up leaving it for about 30mins from the time I go in get things going and get back out to cover it.

Fortunately, I think that I just made contact with the person who's responsible for parking and am working to establish some form of covered parking for motorcycle commuters at my workplace.
