I have a tool kit I bought in Canada in 1975 and still have all the tools in as new working order today.

They just "keep on keeping on"......

picked up an adjustable wrench on the weekend - Sidchrome.....made in Sweden, don't know what year it is....I've polished it to perfection, but it's bloody precise! Got some bigger adjustables from Ridgid and Bahco too.

Craftsman still do good stuff by the feel of it...and crescent pliers are still nice (had some needle nose that were decent).

the old tools are definitely made from better quality steel however - you can tell when you polish them - they come up magnificent (and if chromed polish up nicely) whilst the others are to soft to take a sheen or the chroming is so thin in just wears away

 spider shifters are for plumbers  but your right about older tools i bought a set of extra long ring spanners by e c t many moons ago there been unbreakable not like shitchome

Fiskars garden tools - the ones made in Sweden - are sh!t hot....just finished my months service on my secateurs and they are bloody good, I can tell that they will last a long time (unlike those cheap bit of crap from China which last about a week of good pruning).

Pruned more roses on the weekend than you girls have seen in all your valentines combined and they came through a treat.

so good stuff is still around.

Ran the torque wrenches over the MTB last night. Realised how "off" my guesstimates on torque were (way under done).....

I now have the tightest bike in town.....

For the MTBers the wheels are Bontrager RXL (scandium) 29ers mounted on a Gary Fisher SuperFly 29er (CF frame). Very sweat ride..... But that's another story...

NICE! if I went to 29 (don't ride enough mtb anymore) that's what I'd be on, Fox are simply the best on the scene at present (have been for a while too). Take it you love it?

Santa Cruz are coming out witha 29 Blur later this year called the Tall Boy....now that would be special, I ride a blur and it is brilliant.
